Preseason power poll

Post#1 » by Icness » Wed Jul 7, 2010 3:00 pm

A few random thoughts/additions...
--New England's overall roster strength sans Welker rates about 24th. Take Brady/Belichick away and that's where I'd rank them.
--Why does everyone think the Jets can lose so much from a 9-7 team and suddenly get so much better?
--Carolina is the one team I have in the bottom ten that could really surprise IMO. Their running offense is the best in the league, potentially.
--I see little middle ground with Chicago. They could easily win their tough division, just as easily come in last. They'll be real fun to watch.
--other than their top-notch secondary, Buffalo doesn't have 3 players that would start on any other AFC East team.
--If the Saints were not the defending champs, I'd slot them 3rd or 4th.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Skins at 10. WOW. That would mean you have them pegged as a wild card team?

I think they can win their division if they can somehow sweep Dallas. Their defense should be fantastic...if they're all healthy because there is zeor depth. I think Philly took a giant step backwards and the Giants are a lot closer to the team that finished 2009 than the one that started it.

It's a weird thing to say as a Falcons fan, but for once I have total confidence in our franchise. The Falcons were hit hard with injuries last year and still only a play or two away from making the playoffs. I'm expecting a very good year with any luck on health.

I would put Philly above San Fran, Pittsburgh and Chicago.
The Big Ben suspension is going to kill that team, San Fran is very meh and Cutler is trash.
I highly doubt Philly is going to light the world on fire this season, but of the teams you have above them, those are the only three I cannot agree on.

I think the Cowboys are too high as well, by maybe 4 or 5 slots.

Overall I like your list though, keeping it top notch.

Really? I think 4th is the lowest they've been on any power ranking I've seen.

That porous defenses you speak of in NWE really was not as bad as people seem to remember. I also believe it will be better this up coming season as well.

I would have put the 49ers above Arizona & Miami.
Arizona is going to suffer greatly losing Warner & Boldin.
SF & Miami both have questionable QB's but SF has a better overall supporting cast (and Vernon Davis as an flash in the pan is a mistake)
Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

You know, it completely slipped my mind that Warner retired. Arizona is going to be bad.

I think the Pats are too low, but other than that, I pretty much agree.
