49ers Make Vernon Davis Highest Paid TE In NFL History

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Sep 12, 2010 1:51 am

Vernon Davis and the 49ers have agreed to a new deal, which will make him the highest-paid tight end in NFL history.

Davis, who was entering the final year of his contract, signed a five-year, $37 million extension that guarantees him $23 million, a source close to the situation told Comcast SportsNet. http://football.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ ... l_history/

I think very highly of Vernon Davis but I expected the 49ers to wait before they paid him this type of money.

Would have liked to see him do it one more season. I mean he's just one year removed from being quite immature and a possible bust.

I feel the same. Now, we can expect the TE's to get paid more, and it won't take as long for them to prove themselves.

I think it's a bargain when you compare it t o what some receivers get, and the level of production he can bring. I mean, I'd take 3 Vernons over 3 average receivers any day.

Really not a bad deal if he can keep up his production. But like others have said it would of been nice to see him do it for more than one season.
