i mean, ok, i understand the rookie hazing traditions....but 55000 to feed 52 players is nothing short of ridicolous considering all the others can afford food on their own.

"They got the young fella," said Bryant's adviser, David Wells. "What could he say? He had to pay it unless he wanted to wash dishes for a month."
I'll wash dishes for 55 K a month.

Sucks for dez. Not carrying roys pads cost him a lot of money.

The Chargers have a tradition of doing this too, I remember Larry English had a similar price to pay. He can afford it, so it isn't a big deal.

Re: Dez Bryant takes team to dinner, costs $55000
I had the fortunate occasion to go out to dinner once with a table full of NFL players and a couple of coaches. There were 9 of us at a table and the bill came to almost $2K with tip included, and two of the guys weren't drinking. Thank God I didn't have to pay! It's amazing how quickly all the highbrow food adds up. $90 for a steak, $12 for a salad that all fit in my mouth at once, $35 for a piece of Grand Marnier cake, $10 for a baked potato, $20 for a tequila and grapefruit juice (I had 4 of those). I imagine Dez got stuck at that sort of place. Let's hope his agent is helping him with finances

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

That's ridiculous. That's like 2 years worth of salary for a lot of people.

The dinner was cheap, imagine how much he had to pay the coke dealer in the afterparty.

He should have carried the guy's pads. Even though he can afford it, he lost out on $55K. That's a lot of coin, for anybody, and it was on food to boot.

Dez has more guaranteed money on his contract than some of the players at that dinner will probably ever make in their pro careers. I think he'll survive the financial setback.
