Mike Wallace Best Receiver in the NFL?

Post#1 » by VINO 24 » Mon Oct 24, 2011 5:35 am

Just take a look at the total catches, with the total amount of yards. Not to mention all the long bomb TD's. Guy is a monster and I believe he is the best receiver in the game. What do you guys think?

hes top 5. ward is molding him, brown, and sanders and we are fortunate for it. wallace does stand out tho because of his amazing play making ability. he can catch the screen, go over the middle, go deep(obviously) and block. hes only gonna get better. i would still put both megatron, andre johnson, and fitz over him. other then that i cant think of a guy id rather have.

It's Megatron, he's put that Detroit Lions offense on his back for 3 years now.

couple years ago people were talking about larry fitzgerald, last year i think it was roddy white, this year its "megatron"... but people seem to forget who has consistently been the top receiver for years is, and that's Andre Johnson.

Anyways as far as Mike Wallace goes, he is certainly having a breakout season. Unlike earlier in his career, this season he is showing he is more a complete package. He is not just a speed, athletic type receiver, he is starting to show skill and an understanding of the game. Best receiver in the NFL? no not yet, but he definitely has the tools to be that.

I think Wallace is the best deep threat in the game. I would take Megatron, Fitzgerald, and flip a coin with Andre Johnson ahead of Wallace. Jennings, Welker, maybe Roddy White and VJax are next. I think people forget about Santonio Holmes in these conversations too, he is arguably the best big-play and clutch receiver in the league. Ironically Wallace replaced him in PIT.

I would say Wallace is a the most efficient WR and best deep threat in the league but I don't have him in my top 5. Wallace imo is not as complete a WR as

A. Johnson
L. Fitzgerald
C. Johnson
G. Jennings
W. Welker
R. White

While guys like R. Wayne, B. Marshall, and D. Bowe all have an argument too despite 2 of the 3 not putting up their usual stats due to poor QB play.

Steelers have 3 really dynamic young WR's on their roster in Wallace, Sanders and Brown. Pretty amazing how they draft and develop cept for the occasional flub(Limas Sweed).

That was an ugly year for WR's. Limas Sweed, James Hardy, Malcolm Kelly, Devin Thomas all flamed out really hard.
