lol ok.

Yeah ok. Did you watch the game?

Manning has been lights out in clutch situations the whole year, no matter which defense was thrown at him. He showed that poise again tonight.

I've never been a big fan of the guy, and he seemed to have regressed a bit last year. That didn't last long though, he has been outstanding all season long, even with the Giants D being inconsistent for most of the year. Hope to see a Giants-Ravens showdown in the SB.

I could swear throughout most of the game Eli was getting pressured a lot more than Rogers was. And I watched the entire game. I will say, if Eli has two good games(they don't have to be great) and the Giants win it all, he'll have more Super Bowls than his brother and I would seriously think of taking Eli as my quarterback before Peyton. The supporting cast would be a factor though. It's still possible Bad Eli shows up, so I'm not sure what to expect with future games.

This is a huge overreaction. Peyton Manning is lightyears better than Eli.

After seeing what happened to the Colts this year, I'll take Peyton every day of the week, twice on Sundays.

Eli Manning - Mr. Clutch

Post#24 » by CeCeySay » Mon Jan 16, 2012 3:36 pm

Peyton is obviously a better talent than Eli, but Eli's playoff numbers are better than regular season, & Peyton's playoff numbers are worse than regular season. Call me nuts, but playoff game, I'm taking Eli. Making a baseball analogy, Arod is a much better player than Jeter, but with Jeter's clutch performances, who do u think I'm taking with 2 outs? I'm taking Eli.

The defense was horrible. Also, his back-up isn't very good. Montana left to Kansas City and the 49ers still did very well with Steve Young at quarterback. I guess Montana wasn't very good. Your replacement is just as important as you are.

If I recall correctly Peyton had five interceptions in the first two games of the playoffs when Indianapolis won it all. The defense bailed him out. He had two very good games and two sub-par ones. When the Giants won it all, Eli had a mediocre Super Bowl and three good games before that. Most of the rest of Peyton's playoff career has been constant inconsistency. At this point in their careers Eli has been much more consistent in the playoffs than his brother has. If you put a lot of emphasis on playoff performances as I do, you could argue Eli is just as good. The next game or two will be very important. Eli has also been an elite quarterback this season. If he can have seasons close to this in the future it helps his argument.

Their playoffs numbers are similar and Peyton has faced tougher defenses. He played the #1, #2, and #3 defenses consecutively on the Colts Super Bowl run.

Eli is awesome. Being a Giants fan is the opposite of being a Magic fan. It feels great because I know guys like Eli will make plays and bring the team championships.

Not a fan of Eli only b/c he wouldn't play for the Chargers. I hate when players do that. Its an insult to the players trying to make it in the league. But dude is a talented son of a QB. Clutch time he is ready to go. He makes a play when the pressure is on. Giants couldn't ask for a better QB.

Peyton on the other hand is one of my favs.

If a team is better against the run than they are against the pass, it makes a huge difference to me. A team can be ranked number 1 against the run, weaker against the pass, and be the number 1 ranked defense. That would favor Peyton Manning. Eli has had many good and very good games, while Peyton has had some great ones(I recall a 5 touchdown game he had early in his career) along with a great number of bad ones. Eli is far more consistent than his brother in the playoffs. That's not even arguable IMO.

Today I'd say Eli was adequate. Given the amount of pressure put on him and the bad weather, I'd say he played well but has played much better. One more win, and Eli's won more than his brother has.

He certainly has been awesome this year. Some figures on Brady and Peyton and Eli's comparable numbers from this year:

I thought he played a very good game overall. You have to wonder whether Peyton is happy for his brother winning, or feels embarassed about it. I thought I had read Peyton has 9 playoff victories in his career, while Eli now has 8. I'd say that's somewhat embarassing for who is supposed to be one of the greatest of all time. Namath is considered a legend, and Eli dominates him statistically in every way possible, so it's time Eli starts getting that kind of recognition.
