Unnamed 'scouts' taking killshots at RG3....

Post#1 » by TONY_YAYO » Fri Apr 20, 2012 9:09 pm

This year, with the Redskins in the process of converting their penciled-in selection of Griffin to tattoo ink, Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel shares some negative views on Griffin, from multiple unnamed scouts.

“‘Everybody is just assuming because of the Heisman and the socks and all that bs. . . . they are ignoring a lot of bad tape that he’s had,’” one scout told McGinn. “‘I don’t think he has vision or pocket feel, which to me are the two most important components of quarterbacking. He’s just running around winging it. He’s [Michael] Vick, but not as good a thrower.’

“He has better arm action and is more accurate with his deep ball, but he’s not as good as Cam Newton,” another scout said. “As much as is written about his athleticism, his athleticism under duress in the pocket isn’t even close to Cam Newton’s. This guy, the only way he gets big plays with his feet is if he’s got a wide-open field and the sea opens for him. He’s got a little bit of a selfish streak, too. Everybody was laying on Cam, but for some reason this guy has become gloves off. He doesn’t treat anybody good.”

Another scout “questioned the way Griffin deals with people.”

Surprising to say the least....never heard anything close to controversial about this guy at Baylor, now this close to the draft we have scouts comin out sayin all this once ppl start talking about a remote possibility of RG3 unseating Luck as the top QB. Smh

I would put good money on this being a rep from a team who wants to scare Washington out of taking him second in the hopes that he falls to #3 so they'd be able to trade up.

I think it's childish and futile, since the Skins will definitely take RG3 #2.

One of the scouts says vision and pocket feel are the 2 most important attributes for a QB. The 3rd quote doesn't offer anything of any substance whatsoever in terms of what it even means.

Either the story is made up or the author of the comment is talking to people who don't deserve to have jobs as scouts, therefore who cares since these are unqualified people commenting.

Eh, he's basically saying that he's not a sure thing. I don't think many would have questioned that.

Gil Brandt ripped Bob McGinn this morning on Sirius for using too many anonymous quotes at this time of year. Gil knows more about the draft and the draftees than anyone and he thought this whole thing "is obviously not something that hundreds of others have ever seen". I'll go with Gil Brandt on this one.

oh great, time to bash the athletic QB again

last year at this time, people were bashing Cam, now RG3

the jealousy some people have is ridicolous

I agree with the nitpicky points the scouts make, but dont think it really matters as RG3 is still one hell of a prospect. I 100% agree with him not being as athletic as Cam when dealing with pressure.

I'm sure there must have been a scout somewhere that disliked Brady, Manning, etc. when they were coming into the league.
