hmmm.

I'll give you two "shopping" items I know are going on:
--the Jets are looking for a RB with speed that is better than Joe McKnight, so basically a fast guy with a pulse. The irony is they were debating between Ganaway and Michael Smith with their late 6th and chose Ganaway. He will make practice squad if he's lucky while Smith is the #3 with a bullet in Tampa, which took him about 12 pick later. Smith could get more carries than Blount, who is still the worst passing game RB in the NFL.

--the Chiefs are looking for an OLB that can play the run. They were flat-out embarrassed by their run fits and gap integrity the last two preseason games and Romeo Crennel is at wits end trying to teach Justin Houston how to do something other than run real fast around the end. I know they've called at least two teams looking for veteran help, Atlanta being one of those teams.

Have to think the Bengals are looking for RB help too.

So the Dolphins will probably have two 2nd round picks that are high enough to basically be considered borderline 1st round picks. Smart move.

Yup.

Don't get why the Colts did this at all, its not like they're going to compete this year so why bother. All Irsay had to do was live with his terrible secondary for the season and address it through the draft or free agency next offseason. No point in wasting a high pick.

I really dont think we can judge this trade yet. If Davis lives up to his potential and becomes are pro bowl caliber corner it was a great trade as he is still young. If he cant get his head right and is just mediocre it definitely was a bad trade.

Right now, as a Colts fan, I dont mind the trade. If the Colts have learned anything the last 5 years it is that you can easily miss in the early rounds of the draft, so a 2nd round pick guarantees nothing.

The present time is the ONLY time to judge a trade. In the future after information comes in, to judge is irrelevant. This is a proposition of chance and the future information removes that chance and invalidates the purposes of judging the trade. You don't bet on black and then when it comes up red you say that you made a bad choice. You signed up for a fair 50-50 proposition, and whether you win the bet or not is irrelevant to judging if it was a good bet at the time the bet was made. The question is the price right for the odds, and the result is not part of that equation nor should it have any bearing on the judgment of the trade being a good deal or not!
