However much of a trainwreck the Jets have been on offense, the defense has still been good even without its best player. With the big glut of mediocrity currently residing in the AFC, I don't think it's a stretch to say that the Jets are Alex Smith, a semi-competent OC, and a few acquisitions at WR and RB from 10-11 wins and the playoffs next season.

Would be interesting if the Jets interviewed and hired the current 49ers OC as Head Coach (Greg Roman), then brought over Alex Smith to be their starter.

I essentially agree with this. I can see a new offense, new HC, and a legit #1 receiver putting them right back in the AFC mix next year. As bad as the AFC looks now it could be even worse next year with BAL, PIT & HOU at or past their peaks and the inevitable regression by the Comeback Colts.

Rex needs to give up on his head coaching aspirations and stick to what he knows best which is defense. There are plenty of teams around the league that could use his services.

I'd love to see him go to Detroit, but I don't think Schwartz could handle him.

I can't see him going back to DC, personally. Seems like his ego is too much for another head coach to handle.

I will be very surprised if Jim Schwartz is fired. The only way it happens is if they are embarrassing in the final two games like they have been the last two weeks. They very well might be.

He's going to have to fire a lot of staff if he wants to stay. Some guys balk at that, most don't.
