Jeff Fisher fired

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Mon Dec 12, 2016 9:06 pm

By Alden Gonzalez
ESPN Staff Writer

The Rams fired embattled coach Jeff Fisher on Monday, one day after the team lost for the eighth time in nine games.

The Rams announced the decision in a press release, but did not mention anything about general manager Les Snead -- who, like Fisher, signed a contract extension through 2018 before the start of this season. The team later announced that special teams coordinator John Fassel has been named interim coach. The son of longtime NFL coach Jim Fassel has been with the team for five years.

"Making a decision such as this - especially during the season -- is one of the most difficult in sports," owner Stan Kroenke said in statement. "I have great respect for Jeff as a coach, person, father and friend. "He has worked tirelessly despite some challenging circumstances. He played an integral role in helping this team make history in returning the NFL to Los Angeles, and we always will be grateful for his commitment and dedication to our organization.

He shouldn't have given those pictures to Brandon and Danny for safe keeping

I have mixed emotions on this. Fisher isn't a very good coach. But, for whatever reason he always got his guys to play well against us. Selfishly, I hope Kroenke brings in another mediocre coach. Is there another Chip Kelly out there?

I'm wondering what happens with ol' Fish now. No way he gets another NFL head coaching job, but I'm wondering where he winds up.

I'm thinking he takes next year off and gets hired as a consultant for a team. I agree, I don't see him getting another head coaching gig. Maybe college.

he's not even 60 yet, which is pretty remarkable given how long he's been a head coach. but i wouldnt touch him. he could have the best offensive player at each position and would still manage to have a boring team

Rumor has it that Jim Harbaugh will be their coach next season.

In general, Jeff Fisher WAS the worst coach in the league and he got fired two years late. It was the Rams“best transaction this season.

Jim is perfect for the college game. He'd be an idiot to leave Michigan for that job.

About time. Maybe he can actually do what he's best at being a defensive coordinator, being a HC had was too much responsibility from someone who never seen the game offensively. He didn't know what would succeed offensively and neither did his staff, but his defenses have always done well. Harbaugh's not that dumb I don't believe to leave Michigan, but he'd have a job for as long as Fischer did with this Rams team and a new start in LA, who knows what he decides. I like the mention of Jon Gruden.

I'm like 95% sure the Harbaugh rumors are bull ****. He would be the stupidest man alive to leave what he's built at Michigan before winning a few championships.
