Last year we did the regular season competition manually and just moved it to espn this year, so tabulating results of all the participants with 13-16 games every week became quite the weekly task.

Even with my spreadsheets and macros it still takes a little time every Tuesday morning (less than 30 minutes but still) to pull everything together and post it on our website. But as long as it's under 20 it's manageable. Couldn't even consider the number that played on the Real GM ESPN game.

Yes, last year it wasn't nearly as big. A lot of people, if they do poorly, drop out as well. Last year we started with around 30 and ended with maybe 17. This year we started with 77 making picks in week 1, then 70 continued after that, 60 past week 5, and then between week 5 and 10 it dropped into the 40s, and only about half of those who picked past week 1 finished the competition. So in both years, it seems like throughout a season long competition, half drop out. Part of the problem could be that they forget a week and then give up.

ESPN gives the option of having worst week dropped, which I will probably use next year so if people miss a week or have a terrible week, they won't (or shouldn't) give up.

I'm pretty surprised that no one picked the 4 home teams. I wanted to pick Pittsburgh but 10.5 seemed so high. Thought the other 3 were pretty obvious.

Usually in the first round there are one or two games where the home team just doesn't "show up". That didn't happen this weekend. They all showed up.
