Done Deal? Teix to ATL

Braves set to acquire Teixeira from Rangers
Ken Rosenthal
FOXSports.com, Updated 2 minutes ago

The Braves are on the verge of acquiring Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira.

The deal is done, pending a review of the medical records of the players involved, according to major-league sources.

The Braves will receive Teixeira and left-handed reliever Ron Mahay.

The Rangers will receive catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Class A shortstop Elvis Andrus and two pitching prospects.

I'm hoping the pitching prospects are Hanson and Harrison but I just think it's one of the two and a B level spec probably.
BAF Suns

Chris Paul / Patrick Beverley / Shamorie Ponds
Buddy Hield / Timothy Luwawu / Stanley Johnson
Kendrick Nunn / Matisse Thybulle / Darius Miller
RJ Barrett / Kyle Kuzma / Dwayne Bacon
DeAndre Jordan / Kenrich Williams / DJ Wilson

I hope its not Harrison, but it probably is.

Can't wait for Mark to get here though, not that I don't love Julio Franco.

Damn, that's a solid deal for the Rangers. Brves got a good deal too though since Tex is still young.

I like it for both teams.

LAWL

The Braves overpaid for a rental player, eh I don't care. Texieria is a good player but plays in a bandbox, he'll replace Andruw Jones next year in the line-up, and last but not least Texiera will command 20 mill per year and the only team that can give him that is the Yankees, Angels, and Red Sox. If it were me I'd keep Salty at 1B and the 3 prospects.

It's funny ... when the Mets released Julio Franco some fool that works for the papers in Atlanta said that was a desperation move by the Mets, I wonder what he calls this move of trading 4 big time prospects for a possible rental player??

not exactly a rental if you're able to ship him off if he's not working out next year.

4 big time prospects?

And I think you might be undervaluing Tex just a tad.

Well this about guarantees postseason play for the Braves.

Good move, though I'd rather have Salty.

(I understand though that he was expendable [for the Braves] because of McCann)

here's something for those who might enjoy some light reading from this article, http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/w ... index.html

This last consideration may not bother many, but Salty has an unusual family situation. Salty, now 21, married a teacher at his high school in West Palm Beach, Fla., who is now 37, according to records. His wife Ashley, who recently gave birth to their second child, insisted to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that their personal relationship didn't begin until the fall of 2004, when Salty was 18.

i wonder when they started having sex.

Tex is a lot more than just a rental.

Good trade for both teams, but Atlanta better resign Mark, and hopefully they can find away to bring AJ back (not likely).

The Braves still need to find away to acquire a solid starter!

We gave up a lot, but I'm not too upset with it. Teixeira is basically what Salty hopes to be and Mahay will really help a bullpen that had no left handed arms in it.

Now just imagine if Mike Gonzalez never got hurt...

At least it's a year and a third rental instead of just a third of a season.
