I bet Texas wants Pie from us.

Looks like a long-term center fielder is what Tex is looking for. Good to see Hendry say no, which is probably the reason why Tex dropped us from the sweepstakes.

Yeah
The Red Sox and Rangers have agreed to an Eric Gagne deal, pending Gagne waiving his no-trade clause, sources told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
It's very possible that Gagne will block the deal, though the Red Sox could try to sway him by guaranteeing the remainder of his $3.625 million bonuses for games finished. Rosenthal doesn't say who will go the other way, though David Murphy and Kason Gabbard keep getting mentioned. Joaquin Benoit could close for Texas until Akinori Otsuka returns.

More trade talk:
I am listening to Steve Phillips on ESPN and he says the Cubs are talking with the Giants about pitcher Matt Morris.

The Twins are showing interest in Mike Piazza, but a deal is unlikely to get done, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.
A deal with the Angels also seems unlikely.

Honestly, if they announce that Big Z has gotten a contract extension, that'll be better news than anyone we could've possibly acquired at the deadline.

Keeping Pie is definitely good too, but IMO the "proposed deals" for him were garbage anyways.

Pie for Laird? Bitch, please.

He'll have to come back at some point, Cubs will win tonight and he will be smited if he doesn't create the obligatory game thread for tomorrow's game.

Return to Chicago Cubs
