Was it bruce levine who said he might be coming to the cubs? I would be thrilled to have him, we need someone right now. Btw, i read on wikipedia that he came in 4th in the AL mvp voting in 2003, is that true? or is that just someone making up crap on there.

per wiretap:

Stewart claimed by Cubs: Outfielder Shannon Stewart was claimed off waivers by the Cubs, according to a high-placed major-league source.

"I heard something like that," Stewart said before flying with the A's to Detroit. "I really don't know what to say about it. I like the guys here. I like the team here."

The A's can either negotiate a trade with the Cubs or pull back Stewart from the waiver wire.

We haven't got him yet, and most waiver claims don't result in anything. Hendry and Beane need to work out something...and I really don't like the thought of Jim negeotiating with Beane.

He's hardly even played. Let alone his position in LF. And if you look at his splits he's batting .375 when he plays in LF and .244 in RF.

Well Hendry did deal with Beane earlier in the year. Rob Bowen and Blevins for Jason Kendall.

Yeah, and I think Beane won that one. Blevins has some great numbers, and Kendall hasn't thrown out a baserunner yet. He's an alright singles hitter, but if Blevins turns into a productive pitcher we've lost this deal.

I was pissed when I heard we gave up Blevins. We basically maybe upgraded catcher a bit and lost a good prospect in the process.

as a sox fan who is trying to pull for the cubs (even though it hurts) mainly because i want to see my cub fan friends expirence what i did two years ago. the cubs missed the boat with posendik as a stop gap lead-off hitter till soriano came back you couldn't have done better scotty pods best stat?

Year record in lineup record not in lineup
2005 92-49 18-30
2006 81-59 9-13
2007 13-9 32-47
Overall 186-117 59-90

he wins

Back in 2005, Scotty was a great player.
Him and Iguchi were a great 1, 2 combination.
Until Soriano comes back, I can see Scotty and Theriot being a great 1,2 combination.
I sure hope we go after Casey Blake instead of Podsednik.
The White Sox will probably try and rip us off for Podsednik since they don't want us to win.

"Cubs GM Jim Hendry said Saturday he still had live claims heading into Monday, but added he's comfortable with the current shape of his roster and isn't expected to make a deal."

What the hell Jimbo? Comfortable, you're team is showing no consistency without Ramirez and Soriano. I know that Baconator makes you feel good, but your roster shouldn't.

I have no idea what any of this means, or what you're trying to argue.

I agree with Hendry, I am happy with this team.
You know you have a World Series team when Jacque Jones and Jason Kendall are leading the way and your leading home run hitter doesn't even have 20 home runs yet.

He's just trying to show how Podsednik helped the Sox lineup.

Burrell would be a good pickup. Although Murton is doing pretty well right now, Burrell could be an upgrade as long as we don't give up Jeremy Blevins again, JIMBO :banghead: .

And here is Pat...

There is also a very ghey picture of him on google images.
