Chicago Sun-Times wrote:An MRI of Aramis Ramirez's right wrist Thursday showed some fluid buildup but no structural damage.
For the Cubs, the news was about as good as they could expect.
"There's no tear, no break," manager Lou Piniella said. "I don't know exactly how long he'll be out, but it's not a DL [situation]."
Ramirez received a cortisone injection to alleviate the discomfort and likely will sit out the Colorado series, giving him seven full days of rest, including the last two games in Houston and Monday's day off.
The fluid resides in the wrist below Ramirez's pinkie finger, and was caused by the violence of his swing, according to the Cubs trainers.
Ramirez will be in Denver with the team Friday. There's a slight possibility he could return to action Sunday, although the Cubs are likely to take a more conservative approach and wait a couple of extra days. They open a homestand Tuesday night against Cincinnati.
