The thing is the Halos were slowly starting to make a comeback. Buck was in control for the few few innings then they put up one and then another and another so I think Tito wanted to put an end to this trend by using his two best pitchers. If I were Tito, and this is partly due to hindsight, is I would have brought in Manny Delcarmen for the ninth in the first game once we were up 4 runs to save Papelbon in case we needed him in the second game, which ended up being true. But they made a good point last night when he was brought into a 5 run game. If Papelbon warms up, he's coming into the game. They aren't going to have him warm up and then sit down because they are still trying to protect his shoulder. He'll probably have today off (which is scary because Okajima has pitched everyday too so Gagne might be the closer if it's close again). Overall, I am much happier with Tito's Paps usage this year than last year. mahalo

Kason Gabbard is very expendable, David Murphy the same. Beltre is 5 years away. Eric Gagne has a record of proven success, some of it to an otherworldly extent.
Painful stuff to watch in the short term, but have some faith in a guy once in a while. It's not like he's some **** without a track record. Mariano Rivera started the season like this: 6.2 IP, 12.15 ERA. Since then 45.1 IP, 2.18 ERA. Gee, it looks like relievers can go through bad stretches. Who'dathunk?
Stop looking at these super small samples and taking stuff from them. It's annoying and it's just dumb.

There are dumb moves that Theo makes that in fact make no sense to begin with. Signing Drew, trading Arroyo, signing Lugo over keeping Gonzalez... etc... then there are moves like the Gagne deal seem smart innitially, but end up bad. We needed bullpen help, and all the guys we traded were expendable. Now to argue, one could say Gagne can only pitch well as a closer, well you gotta figure Gagne's got enough pressure pitching in the 8th inninng in a pennate reace, so his adrelanline should be pumping even if he is closer or not.... Its just a deal that didn't turn out, like Jose Offerman

Haha, I think he quoted this after Gagne had another bad game. Classic.
You'll all be sorry when you're sucking up to Eric Gagne as your World Series MVP.

Gagne
Yes, gagne has struggled. But, it was a great gamble and could still pay off.
Gabbard could be a #4 going forward, but Murphy will be a 4th OF at best.
One thing everyone, especially the "media experts" tend to forget is that we will receive 2 high draft picks when this guy leaves as a free agent.
Gagne will be sought after and therefore we will be compensated. Remember one of the comps we got for Pedro?
Clay Buchholz!

Didn't you learn already? This thread is not funny, its just states that Gagne sucks (true). And its not going to be funny in a week, two weeks, a year or a decade.
