Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere in this thread, and to be honest, I'm not going to read through the whole thing, but I heard something interesting on the radio this evening in Madison.
They were talking about the Brewers and if Yost would be back next year or not. They said that during this past offseason, Attanasio had to be talked into keeping Yost around. If that's true, and this season doesn't turn around, I don't see any way he's back next year.
Does anyone know if that's true or not. It makes me a little more hopeful should things keep going south.

The only thing I know is that Yost was told that he needed to produce a winner this season or face the ramifications.

Hang him now while we are still in it. Why wait? We know he cant do crap. So why waste the rest of the season when we are still close?willeatfire4playoffsinmil wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

If we can't beat teams like the crappy Giants, how are we going to hold off STL and the Scrubs? Nascar Ned needs to go...
Unfortunately we are no longer in position to hold off the Scrubs.

Attanasio got to witness yesterday's debacle in person, I'm sure he's monitoring this team's finish, regardless of post season play, very intently. Yost cannot afford to have a .500 season (or worse), he's toast considering the media hype and head start they had with that 24-10 record.
Brewers pitching staff was like the fountain of youth for the Giants last night. Shame.
Edit: Piss poor sentence structure.

Not much better the second time around either.

Well, the Astros just fired Phil Garner with a chunk of the season still remaining.
What do you think it would take for the Brewers to fire Ned Yost prior to the end of the season?
Getting swept by the Cubs?
BTW, prior to this season, and even early in the season, I thought Yost was getting a raw deal from many, but I too am done with him now.

I was surprised to see Garner get fired now, what's the point. He did have some success there. I guess they are high on Cooper and want to give him a trial before deciding whether to make him permanent next year.
If the Brewers had anyone on their staff that Melvin thought would make a great manager he might do the same thing.

Melvin needs to worry about getting starting pitchers/People that dont try to hit homeruns everytime up before trying to fire or hire managers this offseason.

His style does not work no matter who plays. This will be the 5th year of sub .500 ball and one year of at .500 ball. How many more years do we need? Jeezzzz.livestrong4ever wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Anybody but a former Brewer player. After all most do not know how to win anyways.
But Yost was the backup catcher on the '82 team!!!!111!!!1!
Seriously though if there was ANY former Brewer that I would want coaching this team it'd be Ted Simmons. Did anybody hear him during that reunion? That guy knows his stuff.

Yost won't get fired....he's got the year.....
I'm pretty sure you just correctly forecasted what's going to happen PP, I think Cooper will be pretty good down in Houston if he's there long term. Garner was an average manager for the most part, but above average with Pettitte and Clemens in the rotation.
