Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph was a passenger in a vehicle from which gunshots were fired that killed a man last month, but he was not the shooter, according to his attorney, Barry Sorrels.
"Kelvin Joseph did not shoot Cameron Ray," Sorrels said in a statement. "Mr. Ray's death is a tragedy, and Kelvin extends his deepest condolences for the family's loss. On the night of March 17, Kelvin was unarmed and was not looking for violence. He found himself in a situation that escalated without his knowledge or consent. Along with condolences to the Ray family, Kelvin apologizes to the Dallas community for being anywhere near this type of incident. The investigation is ongoing, and we intend to respect the process."
The March 18 shooting left Cameron Ray, 20, dead. A Dallas police spokesman declined to confirm Joseph's involvement in the case, but The Dallas Morning News reported police detectives interviewed the 22-year-old player Friday.

Joseph spoke to the Dallas Police and apparently told all he knew. 2 guys have been arrested since then.

Wow caught because of Joseph's necklace. Makes me wonder if Joseph is in trouble with others now, he probably needs to up his home security.
Not sure what this will mean for Joseph's career but sucks knowing that Asante Jr was on the board when we drafted Joseph.

If he knew about the death of the victim and didn't come forth on his own until under duress, I don't give a damn if he fired the shot or now. Dude should be released.

I agree. He had to have convinced the police that he feared for his life and that’s why he didn’t come forward on his own. Either way though he knew what these guys were about before he went out with them. If he’s dumb enough to have guys like that around him then he really has no place on the team in my opinion.

It was crazy! As soon as Fox 4 posted that video on Twitter it blew up! Everyone recognized that necklace as soon the tweet went out.

It's really hard to have any empathy for Joseph, and I don't. If he is cut I am good with it. BYE BYE.
But I will say asking him to rat out what I assume are his childhood friends is easier said than done. That's got to be a really hard spot to be in.

Problem for him is - the Texas "Law Of Parties" may put him in a much harder spot than he thinks he may have been in the first place.

That’s what I thought too. In Texas it doesn’t matter that you didn’t pull the trigger. It honestly doesn’t even matter if you touched a gun or not. If you are an active participant in a crime it’s the same as if you pulled the trigger. Now according to his lawyer he wasn’t an active participant but he did fail to report the crime until his picture was plastered all over Twitter and he was pressed by the DPD. By the letter of the law he should expect his life to make a very dramatic change soon.
They haven’t charged him yet though. I think if they were going to charge him they would have already. Maybe the DPD just really wants him to testify against the two guys that actually were shooting and have granted him immunity?

Re: Cowboy DB involved in Drive-by shooting
The two shooters turned themselves in and I don't think that is normal.
It makes me wonder about the possibility that Kelvin was the actual shooter, and the two that came forward did so in an effort to save his NFL career. Assuming these are old friends that actually care about him.
Very unlikely I think, but just something that came to mind for me.

I understand where you’re coming from but I seriously doubt these two guys are going to risk a life sentence so that Kelvin Joseph can keep playing football. Kelvin Joseph doesn’t make enough money to convince a person to take a life sentence. Not in my opinion anyways.

Well said and I couldn't agree more.
