There is just no digging themselves out of this one. Because worst of all, they're never going to fire the GM (because its Jerry / his son) so everything below it is just never going to get better. It will just continue to be a new taste of bad haha.

Fwiw I don't think Dak is terrible. He's just not good enough to be a true contender. Very similar to Cousins in that way. But they we're also both taken in the 4th round for a reason.

Jerry has always been a major part of the problem. Way too lenient with guys like Jason Garrett. McCarthy was not a great hire obviously.

The positive is that they tend to draft extremely well. That's why they continue to have very solid rosters top to bottom.

Read on Twitter

Jerry didn’t specify which QB he was talking about in that 2nd comment, or where they want to go.

I personally have Cousins on a tier above Dak. I do think Dak greatly benefited from playing behind a freakishly good offensive line for the majority of his career.

With that said, yes I don’t think Dak is terrible. I think he’s a solid stop gap QB. I think he is a similar QB to Jimmy G. You have no chance to win it all with him, but he can be a solid stop gap QB.

I have Kirk in the, “he won’t win you a Super Bowl, but you can win with him” category.

But ya the main issue with Dallas is Jerry. I think their scouting staff is top notch. I just don’t trust that front office to make the right choice to ever put them over the top. They just always seem to make one or two choices that always prevents them from taking that final step.

Not only that but he has couple grandsons that will likely take over for them once Jerry and Stephen Jones are gone.

Well, he's gonna die eventually. And Dak isn't even a bad QB. Brian Schottenheimer has a looong history of making his QB look worse. He's getting OC jobs solely because of his last name. McCarthy is the playcaller but Schottenheimer does the actual game planning and preparation of the play sheet.

Jerry is going to out live us all.

You've participated in too many drug-fueled orgies in your youth, but I don't plan to kick the bucket before Jerry.

The lack of elite QB's in the NFC West perhaps has something to do with it.

Maybe but 10 take aways against that division this season is still pretty awesome.

The Bengals are a good team. That defense is underrated.

Having said that, the Hawks probably should have won that game in Cincinnati if we're being honest. The offense was in the redzone & didn't do anything. But the defense pretty much controlled that game in the 2nd half. Geno didn't play well & they've had a makeshift O-line since the start of the season. So much so that a 41 year old Jason Peters was playing right tackle for them yesterday.

I'm going to show my bias just a little here, but if that game is in Seattle or at a neutral site, I think it's a different outcome. I came away from that game thinking that the Bengals have the better QB, but the Hawks we're the better team.

And you did. No way Seattle is a better team than Cincinnati. Come on. Take off the homer hat.

I watched the Niner/Bengals game. Saw very little of the Browns/Seattle game.

I meant the Hawks/Bengals game 2 weeks ago.

They couldn't do anything in the redzone. Partly because the line had issues protecting & Geno had a bunch of turnovers. It was mostly a defensive slugfest for a good part of that game. Burrow just made less mistakes.

Burrow still isn't 100% though, I would gladly face the Hawks in the Superbowl, if either team could make it there.

Don't care what the records currently are, after Mahomes, Burrow is the Best QB in the NFL when healthy.

You don't give the Bengal defense enough credit. You did in a separate post give the Bengals defense credit, but it doesn't apply when it comes to your team. And its not like Cincinnati hasn't had its issues with injuries and Burrow. Can't complain about injuries on your end when the other teams have just as many injuries and issues. Now that it appears that Burrow is fully healthy, we all know Geno can't even carry Burrow's suitcase when it comes to talent and QB play. As your young team gets better and healthier, its just a matter of time before you all realize that Geno is the weakest link on the team at a very important position. We have the same problem with our team regarding dumb Dak.

When did I say that Geno was on his level? Not at all. Geno makes too many mistakes. That's what cost them that game. It's not a good recipe when you have a patchwork offensive line against that pass rush. Geno does not play well when he's pressured.

Burrow wasn't even close to being healthy in that game. If Burrow had been healthy it wouldn't have been a close game at all is what I am saying. Plus they also had Higgins out and injuries on their O-line as well. Both teams 100% healthy, Bengals slaughter them.
