1. NIL
2. Quality of Coach. You need both things to be a top tier program in either college football or basketball.

Bama no longer has Saban and now they look just like any other normal power conference team

That means my Tar Heels for the first time in 44 years are looking golden.

Y’all are setup perfectly for mediocrity.

In football Bill is 70+ and not a college coach. In basketball, well Hubert is Hubert haha.

Plus is UNC even known to have a good NIL in either football or basketball?

I'm not sure to be honest. I know Roy Williams and coach K got out a few years ago because they knew what this NIL was going to turn into. Not even sure Carolina has the same spunk as it used to in basketball either.

Ya those two and many of the old timers (same with football like with Saban). They saw it coming and either got out before or got out pretty early once NIL hit.

I know that was one of the big things with Scheyer, he was planning on how to maximize that stuff and now Duke has as high of NIL as any college basketball team out there.

I just don’t know with UNC. Not even saying this because of the rivalry, but UNC’s name with basketball is kind of stale at the moment. And with football, Bill was a big name splash but I feel like it ends to being more of a momentary splash and not an actual program changer. He’s just too old and from a drastically different generation. Even though his young GF is smoking hot haha

Watching the highlights, Manning threw a pick where he stared down the WR and threw to the sideline, gave the safety a couple of seconds to break on the ball.

The TD was more of a 50-50 ball, the WR made that play.

So he's way more athletic than his uncles but apparently not polished as a passer at this point in his career.

iowa's passing offense still doesn't seem like it wants to move out of the 1910s era. looks like we can run the ball pretty well so that's something
cyclones game might be pretty rough unless we can make it a slog (and we are typically good at that, especially with iowa state - that game is always ugly)

Being away I only got to watch the game just now, but fueled by that whole media circus people are so damn reactionary to this Arch thing. Before anyone had seen him play a single snap he was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and now that they've seen him once and be awful he suddenly ain't worth a lick. The truth is he got most of the hype from his last name, which is something you should never get caught up in a follower, certainly not as a media member, and secondly he had never thrown a pass outside of Austin, Texas. Yet he's expected to turn up to Columbus and start throwing missiles and win the game? Please. If his name was not Arch Manning but instead Arch Bishop, Texas probably wouldn't even have been favored in this game.

A quarterback that hasn't played any meaningful football in two years, has never thrown a pass on the road, playing against OSU is immediately expected to be top tier. How about we give it some time and come back to it after the Florida game.

So Bellichek figured he's just go college and win?

Did he get any big time recruits or stars coming in the portal?

Or does NC not have the big money to pay out?

I saw Gundy of Oklahoma State complaining that his school only had about $7 million the past 3 years or so while Oregon, whom OSU is playing next week, spent $40 million just last year.

Doesn't sound like a man to complain about the opponent having more money.

We can retire the Bill and North Carolina thread moving forward and stay in here for all things college football.

BTW guys, who really had the worse weekend, Alabama or North Carolina? Alabama is already calling for the coaches head. But damn, that had to be a historic all time low point for Bill.

A quick look shows many lop sided match ups today. Michigan vs, Oklahoma raises my eye brows.

What's the outlook on Iowa this year? The offense has to be better right? I don't think Iowa St is that good from what I saw in Dublin

Well Yes. I love those burgundy, gold and white uni's and helmets. So sharp. Plus the Iowa State fans appear to be more knowledgeable and classy.

Longhorns and Arch off to another slow start. Good thing Texas has a great defense.
