Any targets in mind you have for the Colts?
I wanted Jonathan Allen to replace Mathis.
I don't know how I feel about the Safety from Ohio State.
Maybe some Buckeye fans can enlighten me on his game?

He had 7 picks and 3 td's last year. Not to shabby

Yeah he downright stole from the Bears and then only gave up a 4th round pick to get Foster, damn good day

Re: NFL Draft Discussion
Lynch played the Foster trade right. There were already rumors of a 49ers trade back when the draft was still in the teens, so there were some that were getting antsy.
And that 4th the 49ers gave up belonged to the Bears 5 hours ago.

Re: NFL Draft Discussion
I really enjoyed watching the first round.
I'm very pleased with the Oakland and Atlanta Falcons first round picks.
Watson going to Texas also makes me happy. I added three bets before the draft that he'd be selected 12th or lower so that worked out nicely.
Looking forward to round two.

Hate that the Texans drafted Watson.
He haunts my dreams as Bama fan and will probably haunt my dreams as a Colts fan as we have to play him 2x a year.

It will be seeing how Watt progresses within the Steelers system. His energy is exactly what the Steelers need! Great pick.

Re: NFL Draft Discussion
A few thoughts:
McCaffrey to the Panthers is a pick I both love and hate. In almost every single scenario, I am generally super against picking a running back in the top 10. And the Panthers have a few positions I would have rather seen picked up with that pick. But McCaffrey is one of my favorite NCAA athletes of the past decade and I think he could be a real difference maker for Carolina. If utilized properly he could be a Rookie of the Year candidate.
I love Deshaun Watson on the Texans and I think he could make a very serious immediate impact. But they paid a STEEP price for him, and gave up a lot. If he doesn't pan out, this could hurt them big time. My money though says they'll be glad they did.
Biggest winners of day 1:
Cleveland Browns (never thought I'd say that) - Garrett was the only right choice at #1, then they were smart to trade down from 12 and got a big time guy in Peppers and a solid TE in Njoku
Washington Redskins - Even in their wildest dreams, there is no way the Redskins front office could have imagined they'd have a shot at Jonathan Allen with the 17th pick.

bwgood77 wrote:bleu wrote:laika wrote:I think Watson is the most interesting player in the draft.
Supposedly most NFL teams do not rate him as a first round caliber player. But why?
The most cited concern is accuracy. But Winston was at least as inaccurate and he went #1 overall. I know it's just one game, but I don't think you can ignore Watson's championship game performance. People were talking about Alabama as having the greatest defense ever before that game and Watson shredded them.
I think the Browns would be crazy to pass on Watson at 12. Winning matters as a QB, and they need a QB in the worst way.
I've been raving about Watson for a long time now. I'm no scout, and I've hit and missed at times in the past. But I REALLY like Watson, and I think he has the potential to not just be a serviceable NFL qb, but be a star. This is really just off of the eye test, not looking at any analytics. But he just seems to have "it". I doubt he falls out of the first round.
Any targets you like for the Panthers?
I like McCaffrey a lot, I'm just against taking a RB so early on. But as long as we can get a good OT tomorrow (and there are several left so things look good), I'll be happy with it.
How do you feel about the Mike Williams pickup? Dude was a killer in college

I'm fine. The Allen injury killed us this past year and the year before so it's insurance at worst and if they are both healthy with Rivers, and also Tyrell Williams as a 3rd guy and Melvin Gordon having stepped up late, they should be unstoppable on offense if the line can just give Rivers enough time. There are some questions about them overpaying FA linemen, but hopefully it works well enough...Rivers doesn't need THAT much time.
