Extremely light in the DB room. But that’s how bad Blackmon has been, he was basically viewed as just a special teams guy at this point.

With that said, I do think they’re hoping they can go with more late round picks to get Thielen, instead of having to give up a 4th round pick for him.

how concerned should we be that our secondary is going to be early 2000s level bad?

Haha be very concerned. Outside of Murphy and an aging Harrison, it’s really really rough. Rodgers and Okudah are the other DBs that will get a ton of snaps. Rodgers is a career backup and Okudah has graded out to be one of the worst DBs since he’s been in the league. And we’re replacing Bynum with a career special teams guy.

I'm kind of hopeful on Rodgers in that Vikings seemed to target him early in free agency and Vikings did pretty well last year finding guys that fit their system. Okudah is probably a guy they are gambling on because of his physical traits, but a former 3rd overall pick who's on his 4th team probably has some issues. And depth after that is definitely unproven.
I think they'll end up signing another veteran though before the season, whether it's Gilmore again or someone else.

Thielen is 35.

Does Minnesota know they have an older roster?

What do we think Duke?

So far yes.

They're that desperate?

Yes they are that desperate. The best 1-tech on the roster is a rookie and should be a 2nd or 3rd man in the rotation.

Well, I'm not feeling too good about picking them to win the division now.

i think we're really thin at healthy/available wrs for the first month or so (addison suspension)

might be a little 'wants to retire in minnesota' type thing. and everyone in the state has a soft spot for thielen. heck i was at mankato the same time he was for two years.

and it could be a useful distraction, all the news people are already dusting off their 'detroit lakes, mn/minnesota state mankato/undrafted free agent' feel good stories which will blanket the airwaves instead of discussing things like how bad the secondary might be

Yeh a 4th rounder feels like an overpay, but I guess it just speaks to how desperate Minnesota was to get a sure handed receiver. I thought they would pursue KJ Osborn after he was waived by the Patriots.

Love this for TMac. Thielen was a target hog last season and was going to cap his upside, but with him out the picture it's all systems go.

Kwesi: F them picks!

I actually kind of like it for Minnesota. But it is somewhat funny.

Ridiculous over pay. But it’s not like I have any faith of Kwesi using a 4th round pick for anything either than a special teams player to begin with.

With that said, even with how old he is. I much prefer Thielen to Nailor as WR2 for the first 3 weeks and him as WR3 once Addison returns.

Now they need to add another DB

Hey Duke. You playing in the fantasy league this year? Bwgood is waiting to hear from you and you would be the 10th team if you are in. Please let him know when you get a chance.

we were kind of screwed in the negotiation on this one
everyone knew we needed a wr and everyone knows that we'd like thielen and he'd want to go back

bad bargaining position from the jump

That would be hilarious! I could see Stephen’s bitch ass telling Micah “the pie is getting smaller Michael”. They’ve been calling him Michael the last couple of weeks as if they don’t know his name.

I would still put all my money on the Cowboys to win the division if I was you.
