Re: 2023 Draft Prospects
Bryce is benched in favor of Andy Dalton.
Is it the end?
It would be interesting to see the breakdown of his pass attempts in the pocket vs. outside the pocket.
I think smaller QBs are more prone to escape the pocket too soon, because as Michael Lombardi says, he can't see over the middle.
Also how many of his passes get batted down.
The presumption was that Young is very accurate and processes the game so well. But I think I've heard that since last season, he's the most sacked QB in the NFL?
Carolina doesn't have a great WR room. I see that 3 of the top 4 Panthers picks were a WR, RB and TE, drafted at #22, #72 and #101.
So they are trying to get him help.
But so far his weapons aren't getting good, early separation or Young isn't hitting them on time or both.
Maybe Daulton gets them more competitive and they can eek out a couple more wins than they otherwise would have.
But team probably could use more higher draft picks, maybe even trade down to acquire more picks for the long-term.
OTOH, this board was down on Kyler Murray a couple of seasons ago. Yet he still has some elite tools like a very good arm with quick release and short-area quickness.
Bryce doesn't have those traits, so he'd have to achieve greatness through absolute perfection on hitting receivers with optimal timing.
But that means 3 or 5 step drop and firing when the back foot hits while maybe struggling to see over the interior of the line.

Re: 2023 Draft Prospects
So is this the worst start to a #1 pick in a long long time.
18 starts and they’re already giving up on him. The Raiders gave Jamarcus Russell 25 starts before giving up on him.

Ryan Leaf also started 18 games for the Chargers back in the day.

Might go down as one of the worst draft picks of all time to be honest considering everything which is what they traded up to get him and who they passed on to draft him.

Re: 2023 Draft Prospects
Lot of people are blaming the Panthers ownership.
If you think about it, would someone like Levis, who is big and has a big arm, have done better in the last 18 games?

Worst start for a #1 pick? Is that a reflection of the player? Or the organization?

Re: 2023 Draft Prospects
They're saying they didn't give him a line or good weapons.
Well they drafted weapons with the first 3 of 4 picks this year.
