This will get interesting. I didn’t realize he had the same agent as Micah Parsons.

The cowboys should definitely trade Pickens

It won’t be at the trade deadline that’s for sure but at the end of the season if his agent (Micah’s agent) refuses to negotiate with the Jones’ (or visa versa) I could see the Cowboys placing the franchise tag on him and trading him. Realistically what could the a cowboys get in return for Pickens if he were franchised? Two 1’s is pretty steep for a WR (not unheard of but steep).

He might be similar to the AJ brown situation actually. AJ browns stats were a little better before he was traded to the eagles but Pickens is also slightly younger during the same time period. AJ brown did have another year on his rookie contract which increased value in my opinion.

I think that might be the high end, which is a current draft year mid 1st and 3rd.

I think Dak is getting Pickens a pretty nice payday, and possibly also the cowboys a pretty nice return in a trade though.

Anyone still questioning the Pickens trade?
He’s making under 4 million for good production.
The cowboys would certainly get a third back if they let him go in free agency.
They could also tag him for 28 million I think. If he refuses to play on the tag they could trade him for a lot more then they gave up.
Hopefully they just sign him.

Ferguson making history.

That’s insane value for that contract. He’s been a beast.

I don’t usually play fantasy football but this year one of my buddies wanted me to join an all eagles fantasy football league, so I did. It’s mostly people I know but a few I don’t. Anyway, Jake Ferguson was a free agent after I think it was week 1. I picked him up and I got all kinds of **** for it..loll I think he’s been one of the top TEs in fantasy football since week 1 so it’s all good, I’m tryinga win..lolll

I dont think I ever questioned the talent, the thing I questioned was off field stuff. That kinda stuff could negate value in an instant. But yes so far it’s been an amazing trade for the cowboys for sure.

Unfortunately that will take at least one draft to fix.
The two first rounders plus free agency.
The defense sucks.

I want the Cowboys to use both picks on LB's. With Overshown coming back and hopefully 2 more like him, I can see good things on the horizon.

You don't just get a third round compensatory pick like that, especially when two comments later you talk about fixing the defense through free agency.

It's interesting how you and Micah pretty much assume you will get good players from the Micah trade picks, but I guess the picks you gave up for Pickens would have never amounted to much.

Overshown has been injured a lot. I wouldn't count on him to stay healthy.

Sure has. Mr. B. says Overshown won't be back until around Thanksgiving. The most concerning part to me is that damn secondary. Beyond awful.

According to PFF the Cowboys have 2 of the worst starting LB's (Murray & Luifau). Donovan Wilson is buns also.

I'm not saying the LB's are any good. But that damn secondary is beyond Swiss cheese. And the corners play so far off a WR you and I could catch passes against them.

I still think the bad defense has a lot to do with Eberflus trying to fit square pegs into a round hole. He keeps having Bland (and Diggs) play zone coverage. They are not good zone CB’s. Eberflus also does not like to blitz.

If Eberflus would blitz more and have the CB’s playing primarily man to man I think the defense would be ok (not great but good). Obviously there are also talent issues (especially at LB) but if Eberflus would fit the defense around the talent he has I think they would be ok.

It was announced when they traded for Pickens that if he left in FA this off season the Cowboys would be getting a 3rd round comp back for him.

My understanding is that the Cowboys play a lot of zone coverage under Eberflus. So, if you don't have a very good pass rush, that can expose teams who play a lot of zone. That's likely the issue. They're not consistently getting enough pressure with their front 4.
