Personally if I’m the Cowboys and the Bears want Mike McCarthy so bad I’d say give me DJ Moore and next years 1st and MM is yours.

Chicago can just wait a week until his contract expires lol

I actually would love to see Carroll get the job. But I still think they go for someone like Ben Johnson.

Not if the Cowboys sign him before the end of the week. I’m just speaking from my point of view. I’m ready for the Cowboys to move on from McCarthy. They clearly want him back though. If Chicago does want him though they should make an offer. I actually think McCarthy would be good for Caleb’s career. Maybe not the best coach for the Bears but MM is good with QB’s.

I expected Baalke to be back, but it still pisses me off. At least Doug is gone, but that should've happened after the Detroit game. Shad's refusal to do a clean sweep is ridiculous, we only hired Baalke in the first place because he's who Urban Meyer wanted to be GM, yet he's outlasted two coaches and is gonna get to pick a third

Poverty franchise.
Look on the bright side, Bengals haven't had a GM in their 57 year history.

what? how is that possible? who runs the team?

Pete Carroll would be terrible for Bears, they need a young coach who can design an offense not an old defensive coach. Knowing Bears they'll hire Rex Ryan.

It wouldn't be the best hire. Pete has a laundry list of negatives attached to him. But he would completely turn around the culture in that building. They'd at least be competitive. Plus, I would love to see him coach again.

The Bears need a HC that’s good with developing QB’s. I don’t think Brian Johnson is that guy. He hasn’t proven he can develop a QB. Goff was already in the league like 5 years before Brian Johnson got to work with him. The Bears would be smart to look around the league and we who is the absolute best at working with QB’s and hire that guy, either as the HC, OC or QB coach.

The original owner Paul Brown was the defacto GM until he died in 1991 and his goofball son Mike Brown was gifted the franchise and assumed the same defecto GM title with it, that he holds to this day.

There's a reason the Jesse Bates and DJ Reader's of the world (Larry Ogunjobi to a lesser extent) don't stick around the Bengals.

Try telling an almost 90 year old man why you're valuable, when the Bengals are his only means of income. He doesn't care, so players walk bc ya can't negotiate with him, better off talking to a brick wall.

So reading in between the lines, I think Shad is keeping Baalke as a backup plan

It sounds like he wants Ben Johnson and would be willing to part with Baalke if Johnson wants, but if Johnson doesn't sign, he wants to keep Baalke around because he trusts him for god knows what reason

Could be just copium, but from what the Jags reporters are putting out there, it seems like a possibility. Also lot of people saying Johnson views Jacksonville as an attractive job, and honestly the only issue with us is Baalke, like we have a franchise QB and #1 WR, we were in the vast majority of our losses (10 out of 13 were 1-score losses, an NFL record), and we have an owner who is super hands-off and gives guys incredibly long leashes. Plus the whole no state income tax as well as being in a small market can be appealing

Plus a top 5 pick and like 60 million in cap space (assuming we cut Kirk, which we probably will due to his cap hit, health, and the fact Parker Washington was a serviceable replacement this past year). Big holes on the team, especially on defense, but you can get creative.

Well I feel a lot better of Flores sticking around in Minny. Fitzpatrick yesterday just went off the top rope on Flores. Called him a dictator, burned bridges with not just the players but the rest of the coaching staff from Miami.

Flores might just end up being an elite coordinator that just isn’t cut out to be a HC.

Speculation that Jerry wants to talk to other potential candidate but keep McCarthy as a backup.

It could be a college HC currently still in the playoffs or an NFL assistant still in the playoffs. In either case they could become available to talk after this weekend’s games.

I heard that the Notre Dame coach is on a lot of NFL GM’s radars. I don’t see any way Jerry hires a college coach though. I wouldn’t put it past Jerry to still be undecided about MM though. I still think it would be hilarious if Jerry waits until the last moment to offer MM a contract and he decides to walk.
