Apparently he's still owed a little more than $7M this season. So any team that claims him would be on the hook for that. In that case, I think there's a good chance he goes unclaimed.
If it wasn't about money, I'm almost certain that they would try & pick him up. It's just been their M.O. Pete is willing to take chances on guys. Josh Gordon was more recent. Aldon Smith another one, etc. They're always looking to improve the roster, even if there isn't an immediate need. Outside of Metcalf & Lockett, they don't really have a sure thing. Dee Eskridge has been sidelined since Week one. At the moment their third receiver is Freddie Swain.
And yet with all those wonderful receivers, Carroll will still try and pound the run game. I don't see the point of another receiver going to Seattle with the play calling of Pete. IMHO, Pete doesn't take full advantage of the two very good receivers he already has.
