Seems like to me howie is bracing for the GINORMOUS contract extension he will give Jalen Carter next year.
This one made me happy and I was surprised to get anything in exchange for Green. He's been a huge bust for the Texans which is a bummer - wouldn't be surprised if he turns it around in Philly though.
Bill Simmons had on guys who said that the OL coach at Philly is one of the best if not the best in the league.
He turned Malata and Bechton into great players and he may be able to do it with Green too.
They also said that colleges are no longer developing great OTs because of spread offenses and the OTs don't play like they would in the NFL. So the NFL has to develop and coach them up.
There are many more very good edge rushers than there are very good or great OTs who can pass block well.
I’m an eagles fan so I am biased, but I think Jeff stoutland’s track record speaks for itself. He’s had a ton of success stories. Jordan mailata was one of the crazier ones, basically taking a huge athletic strong guy that’s literally never played American football before he was drafted and turning him into an all pro left tackle..lmao
I don’t know much about this green guy, but if stoutland has seen tape on the guy and more important, if stoutland WANTED howie roseman to get him then I’m confident that he will turn him into a somewhat serviceable player. How good that’ll be, who knows, but I can see him working out to some degree under stout. The only question I have is if green wants it or not. The players that fail under stoutland typically don’t want to succeed bad enough to put in the work. Mailata was a perfect prospect because he ate up everything stoutland would teach him.
