You are wrong about nobody bringing it up. It comes up in relation to every team, usually in positive sense as an achievement. It is a sensitive and negative issue only in relation to Cowboys because it is unusual to see a team not contend for so long.

The Lions also hadn't made a conference championship game between the early 90s and last year.

The difference is that Cowboys fans still think they're hot ****, and Jerry Jones keeps them feeling that way, which is why it's fun to remind them of their loser ways.

Redskins fans under Dan Snyder had realized a long time ago that their owner sucked and nothing would fundamentally change while he owned the team.

And Lions fans were generally humble, that's why everyone was happy for their recent success, except maybe a few rival NFC North fans.
