June is the slowest month for the NFL.

and I'm still not sold on the Niners no matter how many good practices Alex Smith might have. If he's their QB, they're not gonna be my pick to win the NFC West.

They finished second last year, the Cards lost their qb, and not to mention Dansby, and I don't think the Raiders are good enough yet... plus the 9ners added some good talent... I find it hard not to pick them to win the division.

How do you not have the 9ers winning the West this year....they by far are the best team in that divison with all Arizonas losses over the off season

Ok, there is no possible way that the 9ners finish last in the division. None. The Rams still are awful, the Cards lost Warner, Dansby, and Boldin, and who is going to block for Seattle? Okung is a rookie and even if he has a Michael Oher type impact, that can only do so much. The Hawks still lack a deep threat, having only possesion reciever types. The 9ners are easily the safe pick to win the division.

I think he was listing the divisions, because you had the 9ers beating the Raiders for the NFC West Title... which would be pretty easy considering they are in a whole nother conference. No one picks the Rams to be 2nd in the division... ever...

I think it's real interesting that everyone goes on and on about all this great talent Arizona lost, yet when those guys played for Arizona everyone was like, "I guess that guy is okay, nothing special". Not picking at anyone specific but it's truly amazing how awesome all these players got once they left Arizona.

Having said that, they'll miss Kurt Warner a lot. But if Leinart is as good as Alex Smith was last year, Arizona is still better than anyone else in that division.

I think Leinart is more interested in having sex with Arizona state girls than he is in taking a team to the playoffs. I think you might be underrating the 49ers a little. Anyhow I expect all 4 teams to be bad. It wouldn't surprise me if an 8-8 team or even 7-9 team makes the playoffs from their division.

I think 9-7 runs away with the title. I don't think Seattle & STL win 8 games combined, I really don't. Whichever QB sucks less probably wins the division. I still like Arizona's defense better than SF's and I like Beanie/Hightower more than Gore with his durability issues. Two rookie starting OL in SF concerns me too even though I do really like both Davis and Iupati. I'm actually working on the SF season preview a little today, thanks for the kick in the pants

2 Rookie Olinemen dont worry me that much cause like you I really like both the guys they got, and Ive had the pleasure of Thomas and Mack having great rookie seasons for my team recently. I basically agree with the rest of what you say. It going to be interesting to see how Arizona transitions to a more run oriented team. Beannie always seemed a little soft to me as a runner, and he pissed me off sometimes. I'm a student at OSU and he kinda frustrated me cause he could be an absolutely dominant freak if he gets more physical.

...although now that Cliff Levingston looks at it, that is how he would have the AFC West shaking out. NFC West would be more like this:

1. Arizona
2. San Francisco
3. Seattle
4. St. Louis

...Cliff Levingston expects the Cardinals and 49ers to be neck and neck though.
