NFL Team in Los Angeles?

Post#1 » by LA Forever » Wed Oct 20, 2010 11:51 pm

We've all probably already heard of the proposed LA Stadium being approved, but the only thing that's missing is an NFL team willing to relocate to LA. The Vikings, Chargers, and Bills have been rumored to be the front-runners. Magic Johnson has also stated that he would be interested in bringing football back to LA.

It would be funny if the Vikings became LA's team, that would be two franchises they stole from Minnesota then.

There's also talks of building a stadium right by STAPLES Center. I would rather have it there so the area would be more fan friendly, kind of like AT&T Park and how fans could hang out and chill right by the stadium.

If you want football in LA, you want a lockout next year. That will force some dominoes to fall:
Buffalo will move to Toronto at least 4 games a year
Jacksonville will move and they are LA's leading contender
Minnesota could move
Houston will be sold
Arizone will be sold
Chicago could be sold
Detroit could be sold

All those sold teams are unlikely to move but you never know. London and Monterrey are real attractive to the NFL and there are potential ownership groups already in place in those cities.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

London would be incredibly stupid.

I agree but money talks. If you would have told me the Browns would ever leave Cleveland before they actually did it I would have thought you were insane. But Art Modell took the money and ran and prior to that he had perhaps more integrity than any owner in any sport. International travel won't stop the league if someone offers (just making this up) Jeffrey Lurie $1.2B to move the Eagles to London. All the other owners see their franchises worth that much more and that's all a lot of them really care about.

^^
If that happens, I will be torn between supporting my eagles and whatever the new London team would be.

I know they can flip things around and so forth.
But I would assume it would have to be an "east" team either NFC / AFC.
The NFC teams are more than profitable and do not see why they would mess the rivalry within that division
The AFC? I guess it comes down to the Bills and Miami. The Bills are more logical to move to Toronto aren't they and I guess that leaves Miami? btw, if the Bills moves to Toronto I may also have torn alliances since I grew up there.!

Jags to LA in the NFC West. Rams stay but move to AFC South.

Why not move the Rams back to LA?

St Louis is really on the decline lately as a city, and it's more of a baseball-oriented place anyway.

Forget these. If the league and the players can't agree on a CBA that includes a salary cap, the players will not go back to having a CBA with one. If that happens, thrust me, at least one and maybe two teams will move to Los Angeles.

My guess: Rams or Vikings. Maybe the Chargers.

One of the top executives for the new stadium stated that negotiations can begin once the new CBA is complete. If not, no team.
