Wade, Childress, McDaniels....They say things come in 3's.

Was it the 9-17 record, not playing Tim Tebow, Drafting Tebow while giving away 4 picks, or the cheating.

That's right up there with Dennis Green's famous tirade.

Not surprised and not sorry to see him go if I'm a Broncos fan.

I'm very interested to see if GM Brian Xanders gets the boot too. McDaniels was not working alone with all those personnel blunders. The Browns will tell you they would have taken the Brady Quinn deal without Hillis but Xanders threw him in.

It sure seems like the players never respected his act. It's not just his age either because Mike Tomlin and Raheem Morris both quickly won respect in their mid-30s. I don't think McD ever figured out how to project himself as a person of authority and worthy of respect to NFL players.

Just a guess, but methinks Bowlen waited to fire him until he had clearance from the league and/or legal counsel that he could fire him with just cause over the video snafu and not have to pay him the rest of his deal.

I would love to see what other coach could of helped Kyle Orton get 4000 passing yards and turn Brandon Lloyd into an elite wide reciever.

I think the problem with Denver hasn't been anything this season but it happened last season when they lost Mike Nolan as their defensive coordinator. With him and McDaniels running the show, Denver started 6-0, I think he left sometime during the season last year and that is when I think Denver went downhill. If Nolan had stayed and had control over the defense and McDaniels dealt with the offense, then they might of gone on and been alot better last season and this.

Nolan left BECAUSE McDaniels couldn't get along with him and they constantly butted heads, that is on Josh too.

You can't ignore the terrible personnel moves, the losing record, and the game-taping controversy. It doesn't matter at all if Orton passes for 4000 yards or Lloyd finally lives up to his talents if the Broncos are 3-9 this year. And when speaking of Orton, let's not forget that McDaniel's confidence of him before the summer was so low that he had the team trade for Brady Quinn, giving up Hillis, AND draft Tim Tebow in the first round. You can't give him full credit for molding Orton when all signs indicated he was ready to give up on him, and when he wasted resources to try and replace him.

And the fact still remains, they didn't need Orton or Lloyd to break out in the first place. McDaniels inherited a team that already had a 4000 yard passer and an elite WR and he traded them because he couldn't get along with them. That to me is ridiculous. Taking a team that had young playoff talent in a bad division and moving them way backwards.

Cutler, Marshall, Hillis, Clady. What a situation he walked into.

He was one of the worst coaches I have ever seen. Not Romeo Crennel bad at managing a game from the sidelines and drawing up a good game plan week to week but in terms of big picture and putting a team together he had to be the worst.

Stubbornness will get you killed in this league if you don't win.

i actually like him as an offensive coordinator. he is just waaay too green to take the helm as a head coach.

I actually agree with you on this. That offense was certainly playing well, and Orton and Lloyd were obviously big surprises.

He might be a good offensive playcalling but he did everything he could to minimize his teams offensive talent.

He traded Cutler/Marshal/Hillis only to draft less talented players at the same position to replace them using 3 first round picks in the process, when he inherited a team that already had a fantastic offense. He could have used those picks to build a defense and fine tune the offense. Also he changed the blocking scheme with terrible results.

When did he get to be a better candidate, though? When the Pats brought in Moss, Welker, and Stallworth to spruce up their offense, and they went undefeated in the regular season. Take those moves away, and maybe he doesn't get as recognized because New England doesn't have nearly as potent of an offense, and Brady doesn't have an MVP season(which should have went to Moss in the first place).

Also, I have a feeling that Josh had more to do with the past cheating transgressions of the Pats than people realize, and that he pulled the wool over Bowlen's eyes.
