"To me, right now, as things stand, 18 games, the way it's being proposed, is completely unacceptable. ... I see more and more players get injured every season," Cleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita said Tuesday on a media conference call arranged by the union.

That's just ridiculous. The NFL is becoming way to corporate for my liking, it's money money money.
Brady and Manning would be protected even more though if this was to happen.

They'll settle with 17 and drop a preseason game IMO. I doubt the lockout lasts past late March. Not being able to trade or sign players before the draft hurts both the players and owners. Teams wanna know what thhey have before the draft and players wanna get paid.

If they do add more games they need to allow teams to carry more active players.
I also hope they change how the IR system is set up. I hate the fact that you have to hold/put someone on IR when they may or may not get healthy by the end of the year. We got burned this year by holding on to a few guys that never saw the field again. I would like to see a couple "injured spots" where a guy could be activated if he got healthy down the road, but it doesnt count towards the active roster.

Im sure they would have to change both of those things.
Maybe I'm crazy but I dont see an 18 game schedule being too crazy of an idea. If they cut 2 preseason games and expand the roster it will be fine.

how bout funding the health care for the players? (both during and after retirement)
owners want 18 games? pony up the millions to fund their care too

18 games won't happen.
I have season tickets and get raped off the pre-season tickets, so I'd love to have 18 games, even 17, but I highly doubt it happens. You pay full cost for the preseason games and you can barely sell a pair for $10.
Pharmcat: I agree.

DALLAS (AP) — The NFL players union has discussed a boycott of the scouting combine later this month with player agents.
Several people familiar with the talks told the Associated Press on Friday that the union suggested keeping potential 2011 draft picks away from the combine in Indianapolis and from other draft-related activities while there is no collective bargaining agreement. The people spoke anonymously because they are not authorized to give out the information.
