Polamalu Wins DPOY

DALLAS -- Now that the voters have chosen Troy Polamalu over Clay Matthews for The Associated Press 2010 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, the two stars can prove their worth against each other on the field.

In the Super Bowl.

Pittsburgh safety Polamalu received 17 votes Monday from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who cover the league, edging Green Bay linebacker Matthews by a hair -- two votes.

I honestly don't like the choice and don't even like the fact that Clay Matthews was so close. Then again, if I had it my way Demarcus Ware would win this award every year... and that's coming from a Giants fan.

I don't think it's a bad choice, but the true winner should have been Matthews.

I agree. But good for Troy though, it's nice to see him get some recognition, he makes that defense go.

They had to give it polamalu because hes is on the decline while mathews is only going to get better.

In my opinion, Ware is consistently the best defensive player in the league. What's hard to understand?

both are quality candidates from USC.

I know his sack numbers are always great and that Ware is a very good player, but IMO it is hard to be considered for the DPOY when your team has the second worst defense in the NFL and gave up more than 27 points a game.
