65 meters? So that was about a 70 yard punt?

I'd assume it's between a 70-75 yard punt... that kid did it with no run up or anything like most of those Australians do. Might be worth a try for one of the teams.

How do we know if this was a fluke punt or if this guy can kick it like that regularly? Lots of NFL and college punters can get lucky and hit freak punts that travel 70-75 in the air. That's not remarkable. A canadian player hit a 108 yard punt which obviously a lot of that was on the ground, now that's a remarkable punt, this one was not. It was just an ordinary fluke punt and we see that from time to time.

McKenzie is known for being a big and accurate kick. He just happened to make a big kick through the goals in that youttube video. But idk.

Length isn't nearly as important anymore as accuracy and consistency. Look at Reggie Hodges--he bounced around for a few years because for every 65-yarder he slammed he had a 30-yard shank. Once he got more consistent and stopped trying to punt every ball 60 yards he became much better and landed a fulltime gig.

FWIW one of the most entertaining things I've ever seen in football was Thom Morstead during Senior Bowl practice in 2009. He was standing on the sideline in the end zone and directing several kids in the stands on the opposite side which seats to go to. He was within 2 seats on at least 90% of his kicks and that's between 50-60 yards. The linemen were doing a goal-line drill under the flight path and when they were not in the rep they were watching him in amazement. I've been to hundreds of college/pro practices and I've never seen anything like that. The closest was Tom Tupa punting the ball 50 yards with his off leg when he was at Ohio State. Try that at home!

I was at the game in the OP's video - this is an 80yard kick, from boot to where it landed. It is also not a 'spiral' punt as used in the NFL but instead spins backwards as one of your kickers would effect the ball; this produces less distance.

At 19 years of age he'll only continue to kick further - a smart recruiter would start looking at him now.

I follow the sport he plays in down here in Australia and he kicks it like that regularly, so there's no fluke about it.
