For those of you who dont know NFL Network had the players rank their peers and come up with a top 100 players list as of 2011. So far 100-11 have been revealed and the top 10 is revealed this sunday. Here's the list so far http://top100.nfl.com/

So this leaves these 10 players (in no particular order): Brady Manning Brees Adrian Andre Peppers Lewis Reed Revis Polamalu

So lets debate.. you can come up with your top 10 of the above or what you think the top 10 should be.

My top 10 of whos left:
1. Adrian Peterson
2. Andre Johnson
3. Troy Polamalu
4. Tom Brady
5. Darelle Revis
6. Peyton Manning
7. Ray Lewis
8. Ed Reed
9. Drew Brees
10. Julius Peppers

What i think it should be:

2. Patrick Willis
3. Andre Johnson

I can't believe fellow players still think Ray Lewis is a top-10 player. Take away Haloti Ngata and Lewis isn't even a top 50 guy anymore.

I'm doing my own list, my top 10 looks like this:
1. Peyton Manning, QB, Colts. Still the master, even though the chinks in the armor are starting to show a little more--in no small part because the OL has regressed. People forget about his amazing downfield accuracy and arm strength.
2. Troy Polamalu, S, Steelers. Injuries are an issue, but no defensive player has a greater impact on the game than when he’s playing at or above 90% health. There are several Steeler defenders on this list, but he’s the one irreplaceable guy.
3. Tom Brady, QB, Patriots. Probably better than Manning in the regular season, but his playoff drought is becoming disturbing for his talent level. The TD/INT ratio is unbelievably superlative.
4. Patrick Willis, LB, 49ers. Gets lost by playing on a lousy team in the NFC West wasteland. If he played in the NFC East, he would be beatified for his ability to do just about everything better than just about everyone else.
5. Calvin Johnson, WR, Lions. Finally had the monster season he’d hinted at before with his dominating physical package. Caught 15 TDs with 3 QBs and almost no running game or complementary receivers; imagine what he’ll do now!
6. Demarcus Ware, LB, Cowboys. A consistent terror to QBs that beats blocks will all sorts of moves and styles, and his run defense has continued to improve.
7. James Harrison, LB, Steelers. He might be “dirty”, but no defensive player scares offensive players more, and he uses that to his great advantage.
8. Andre Johnson, WR, Texans. Since moving to Houston I’ve come to appreciate more fully his awesomeness, but a double-digit TD season remains an albatross.
9. Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers. Quite an amazing two seasons he’s had, culminated with a Super Bowl win. The next great one.
10. Haloti Ngata, DT, Baltimore. Dominant force that makes everyone around him better.


Then again I have Shane Lechler--the greatest punter ever and it's not close--at #36 and I didn't see him on the top 100 at all.

Willis gets insanely underrated in their rankings. Which is weird, because he's in virtually every 'best defender' conversation they have on NFL TV. I recall a few weeks back when Jones was on challenging someone saying Troy was the best defender, and the other guys were very much in his face demanding he suggest someone who would arguably be better, and he said 'Okay, Patrick Willis' and the other guys got quiet and went 'okay, good point.'

And yet he's not even in the top 20? Nutty.

I think Ed Reed is the best player in the NFL today. A good argument could change my mind, but that's where I stand right right now.

I agree with this 100%, iirc Lewis' game started to tail off until Ngata started to become the player he now is.

just curious, what is with your covert jets hate? everything you write concerning NY football is always anti jets.. revis not a top 10 player? Are you serious?
