Andrew Luck sweepstakes

Post#1 » by radtech » Fri Sep 9, 2011 10:31 pm

Who will have the worst record?

Seattle starting quarter back is Tavaris Jackson. enough said.
Washington has Grossman and Beck. With them playing in the East, they will finish last.
Carolina drafted Cam Newton but Luck is too good to pass up.
Jacksonville did the unthinkable and released Garrad. Will the team rally around Gabbert or give up all together?
Colts, no Manning means 3 wins.
Bills once again bypassed drafting a quarter back, will not again with Luck in 2012.
49ers have Alex Smith, 7 years of doing nothing continues into this season.

My bets on the Bills.

Im expecting the 49ers and the Bengals to be 2 win teams and the Seahawks to be a 3 win team. I think Andrew Luck to San Fran would be a good story. Luck teams up with his Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh and stays in California. and the 49ers might finally get a good quarterback. They were spoiled by having Montana then Young as his successor, so they have had quite the drought ever since.

^^ I agree. Not only would it be a great story, I think it's got a really good shot of happening.

I think he'd be in a pretty good situation if he goes to the Niners, they have some pretty good talent at the skill positions. Going to Seattle would suck though.

Colts without Manning look like the worst team to me

Imagine Luck spending his first year or two learning from Payton Manning :o

The Colts are clearly the front runners. They will have a bottom 10 defense and offense almost guaranteed.

The Colts wont be in a position to draft him. They did look awful today, but you have to remember Collins has had 17 days to learn one of the most complex offenses in football. Give him a few more games and the offense will look alot better. The defense was awful too, but they were put in terrible spots multiple times by turnovers. Granted they arent going to be a playoff team, but more than 3-4 wins. They do have the #3 hardest schedule which doesnt help.

Kerry Collins was one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL last season in a system he was familiar with for years, a top 5 Oline, a top 3 running back, and some pretty decent targets in the passing game.

His QB rating was 82.2 last year, which isnt all that bad. Im not saying he is a stud, but he will lead the Colts to enough wins to not be in the Luck sweepstakes.

It's pretty much bottom third in the league.

seattle are odd on favs in my books

i think bills, colts and niners all get around 4 wins, jags and skins will be better then those 3

carolina may suck but even if they did probs can't get 2 QBs at #1 in back to back year, they'll have a better record then seattle anyways who will be lucky to win 2 games

Technically he was 20th so he wasnt, my point being he should be good enough to keep us from only winning 2-4 games. *Fingers Crossed*

Seattle and Indy are my top 2. Rest of the teams mentioned won't be bad enough to take Luck.

After watching Newton play today, there would be no reason for Carolina to take another QB. Trade the pick in a Ricky Williams type deal or draft a positional player. There will be at least one team that will give up the entire house to grab Luck.

I think Seattle are the favorites. I mean they are pretty bad. I'd be surprised if they win more than 4 games this year.

I know Kerry Collins has only had a couple weeks or so to learn the Colts offense but man!... the colts do not look good at all.

- the positives: Collins is a veteran quarterback and he didn't throw an interception at all. he did however lost 2 fumbles which he can do better at in the future. he can be a decent starter and limit turnovers, that he can probably do.

- the negatives: this isn't the baltimore ravens where all Collins has to do is manage the game. they are not built to run the football and cannot win games or control games on the ground. on the other side of the ball their defense is far from elite or solid. no question they have dangerous pass rushers in freeney and mathis but their defense isn't going to win them games. Peyton Manning won them games.

plus looking at their schedule, the are facing solid and elite football teams. i don't know, Indianapolis might just be at the top of the Andrew Luck sweepstakes

I hope the Colts get him, just because I'd like to see how they solve it after 1-2 years of Luck learning from Manning. Would they consider trading Peyton Manning? It's hard to imagine him in a Cowboys or Jets uniform.

Kansas City threw their hat into the ring. They actually have some tradeable talent to move up a few spots if they need to.

I think there are some very good options behind Luck as well: Landry Jones, Ryan Tannehill, Kirk Cousins, maybe Barkley (not sold yet). Every one of those guys is better right now than Gabbert or Locker or Ponder were at the same point last year, by a big margin in the case of Jones, and they all went top 12. But none are Luck.
