I would eliminate individual bye weeks and put the Pro Bowl in an All-Star bye week during the later part of the regular season (like after 10-12 games). Have skills challenges and an All-Star game like the NBA does.

the pro bowl has very little meaning these days because there are so many replacements that come in year in and year out. you never see that in the nba all star game. i mean there were guys like cam newton and andy dalton who made the pro bowl this year as rookies? the only rookies that make the nba all star game are exceptional once in a decade types like duncan or griffin. there are so many one and done types that make the pro bowl in the nfl and that's what makes it have less meaning in my eyes. there are very very few one and done all stars in the nba, that's how much harder it is to make the all star game in the nba than it is to make pro bowl in nfl. guys like al jefferson and even someone like deron williams hasn't made the all star game until his 5th year in the league. while we get rookie pro bowlers left and right.

basically hwat i'm saying is maket he pro bowl an actual honor to have. it doesn't seem like it considering how easy it is for players to make these days (super bowl replacements doesnt help, move it back to after super bowl)..

Draft teams. Increase the amount of money the winning team gets and pay the losers nothing. Make the losing team do a punishment the wining team picks.

make it after the superbowl so injuries are less of a concern. Having a pro bowl where pro bowlers on the top two teams dont play makes no sense.

they used to have this old show seen on youtube called the SUPERSTARs. or somethin like that. obstacle courses. team competitions. relay races. junk like that. that might be the way to go.

I've had a bunch of ideas for a while, as the current format has been unwatchable for me ever since I can remember.

First, take it out of Hawaii. Nothing more annoying as a fan than watching football in February played in a warm tropical environment. Especially meaningless football.

Football in the winter should be played out in the elements. I'd enjoy watching THAT version of the pro-bowl, in snow, 20 degree weather, etc.. They shoud just designate Lambeau as the site every year. Pretty much any game played there is intriguing.

Second, it should be in the middle of the season like the other sports. Thats the only way to get fans interested. Putting it at the end of the season is like those optional school parties your school would have after the year was over. Why would anyone care about that?

And the last suggestion is two-fold. I think the SB should be played in the home of one of the teams participating, instead of a neutral site. Then you make the pro-bowl decide which conference gets the homefield advantage in the SB. Home-field advantage in the SB on the line? Now THAT would be something every fan would love to watch. Then the city that ends up hosting the SB will have that extra week in-between to get everything set-up.

Lots of things they could do to improve it, glad Goodell is finally doing something.

I actually like that original idea of making it more of a fun thing.

Bring back the skills competitions. Get the fastest guys to run 40-yd dashes. See which QB can chuck the pig farthest down the field. See which WR can catch the most balls while four machines are circled around him. Get the bench out there.

And, I really like the idea of a giant flag football game. I don't know why, but it just seems like something that would be fun to watch.

The idea mentioned above about the Pro Bowl determining the homefield in the Super Bowl, that would be tragic. Bud Selig already f*cked that up for the MLB, Goodell would literally be lynched if he decided that was a good idea for the NFL.

Players will never play hard in the Pro Bowl no matter when or where it is due to injury concerns, so there is no way to improve the actual game product.

If you keep it at all, skills competitions would be the way to go. I would keep it in the bye between the conf championship games and Super Bowl, but I'd put it in the host SB city. Make it more of a team-oriented thing, kind of like a high school track meet w/ maybe the the full slate of 10 non-SB playoff teams + 4 at large bids for various skills:

Passing competion: QBs with their receivers.
Punting/kicking: inside the 20 drills, hangtime, FG distance/accuracy
D line/O line: strongman competitions
RB/CBs/LBs: agility competitions.

Crown event champs and figure out a point system to crown a team champion from the playoff teams. Make the thing free to kids and keep it fan friendly with an autograph session. Package it in an edited tv format for anyone who wants to watch. Keep players in town a few days after the competition to help run youth camps at the SB's NFL Experience. Have them host fundraising parties. Maybe the skills guys could form their own flag football tournament. The league should be more concerned about marketing itself and feeding the Super Bowl atmosphere more than putting together an all-star game no one cares about.

What they should do is remove the 30 minutes halftime from the Super Bowl and use it in the Pro Bowl instead. Have the Pro Bowl 2 weeks after the Super Bowl or at the midpoint of the regular season.

Players should be fined/punished if they back out of the game. Once they're in the game, they should be fined/punished if they don't give an effort to play a halfway competitive game.

This game is a reward to the fans for spending their hard-earned money throughout the season & the players should use this game as a "thank you" to the fans for supporting the NFL.
