Free Agent signings
This probably merits a thread of its own. The action starts this afternoon.
Any predictions on where the big names land?
Mine:
Mario Williams--stays in Houston
Peyton Manning--Arizona
Matt Flynn--stays in GB
Carl Nicks--Cincinnati
VJax--Washington or Jacksonville
Cortland Finnegan--TB or Cincy
Colston--Jets

Can the Skins even afford Jackson now? **** Roger Goodell.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Re: Free Agent signings
I could definitely see Winston in DC man. They need a right tackle and he fits the zone blocking scheme. And he's only 28.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

A couple developments so far:

As Tennessee plots its push for free-agent quarterback Peyton Manning, the Titans plan to host a visit from former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson, league sources said Tuesday.
One goal of signing Hutchinson would be to make Tennessee even more appealing to Manning, who is close to the guard from the time they've spent together at multiple Pro Bowls in Hawaii.

One less CB on the market: New York Giants reached agreement with cornerback Terrell Thomas.

Re: Free Agent signings
Thank you, Mr. Reese, for re-signing Terrell Thomas. That's the one guy I was hoping they'd retain even though he missed all of 2011with a torn ACL. He was the Giants best corner for two years straight and led the team in tackles in 2010.
This probably means Aaron Ross is hitting the market, which is rough to watch, but his play was even harder to watch. He got beat deep so many times this season. He can't read routes and receivers for sh*t.

Re: Free Agent signings
I think Mario goes. I think VJAX stays in San Diego. I think Colston goes. I think Peyton and Wayne choose a team together. I'm gonna say Tennessee.
As for my pats, it is odd they're not re-upping their own free agents yet. Usually they've done this by now. Benny Green Ellis hitting the market is a surprise. As for splashes, I want Mario, won't happen according to many, so I want the next biggest splash and that'd be LaRon Landry. I've come around on him. He fits exactly the type of safety the pats always bring in.

They are beginning to make small moves.
Patriots QB Brian Hoyer, a restricted free agent, has been tendered at the 2nd-round level, as expected.

Re: Free Agent signings
Yeah saw that. Patriots are apparently really high on Hoyer. Sucks for Ryan Mallet.
Also saw a blurb on Red Bryant intriguing the pats.
Of course the biggest expected signing for NE will be Brandon Lloyd. If he doesn't come here after all that talk, I'll pretty much hate this FA period.

That's better news to me than the news that you broke last night regarding Houston shedding salary for him

I'm hoping for him to be in Chicago.

Re: Free Agent signings
Houston is trying to keep Mario but Chris Myers is first. Local radio is pretty divided on it, I think Mario is leaving town.
TB is going to spend this year, that was part of Greg Schiano taking the job. I expect them to sign a corner, a WR, and OL help.
Brandon Lloyd is the fat cougar at the end of the bar after you've had a few shots. Seems like a good idea at the time and the short-term winds up nice, then you wake up 6 weeks later with nightmares, the clap, and swear off drinking.

Here's the link
Wide receiver Marques Colston reached a five-year deal worth around $40 million to stay with the New Orleans Saints, a source said.
Included in the deal is about $19 million in guarantees, the source said. Colston was one of the key free agents the Saints couldn't afford to lose.

There's still a chance that Mario Williams could return to the Houston Texans.
