Why is ESPN so obsessed with Tim Tebow?

Post#1 » by NBAFan76 » Tue May 15, 2012 5:29 pm

I mean it's the month of May and I can't believe I still hear this man's name who is basically a horrible QB who lucked into some wins last year. First take can't go a show without talking about him and then you turn on SportsCenter and then it's more Tebow. Why is this man covered and talked about so damm much and proved he is not that good of a QB? It's May and we have to still hear Tim Tebow's name?

He's one of the most successful and celebrated college athletes of all-time and a NFL underdog with a super wholesome image who came in mid-season and won a bunch of games in dramatic fashion. Now he's taking his Christianity to the heathen Jets in the bright lights of New York City. He's a sports media dream come true.

Tebow is a horrible QB, but you have to admit the stuff he does in the 4th quarter (whether it is successful or unsuccessful) is pretty entertaining.

Jesus power. People pay attention when they find a piece of toast that just looks like Jesus. Tebow basically IS Jesus. (If Jesus liked to hang out and get laid in LA)

Two of my three most-read columns in the last year involved Tebow prominently. One of those was probably my weakest effort of the year. Dude moves the needle. I'd be an idiot if I didn't play to that and so would all the other media outlets.

Because he has white, has no character flaws, is one of the most likeable personalities in all of sports and is actually a good football player(notice i didn't say QB), did I mention he is white?

And that is part of the problem I have with it, if a black QB had his same skill set he would not be in the league. But this fool is being praised and is nothing but a average QB who can't throw accurate passes.

I want Tim Tebow to Fail because he is a certified JOKE.

say what?? everyone knows JESUS IS WHITE! so a brutha like donovan mcnabb couldnt pull it off. just kiddin folks . . .

TEBOW is a popular icon because of the story behind it . . . son of a preacher man. returning missionary from the phillipines. and of course the winning part. no movie has any success without a good story line, and he has it.

personally, much has to be given to the coach. who excellently tailored that offense specifically for him. and even with the success, the winning ... the playoffs ... knew in his heart he still had to dump this kid. but hey, the story is still good.

I'm surprised at how many people are confused by this. I meet a lot of people at bars and talk sports with them, and it never fails to amaze me why people are unable to understand why the media covers Tebow so much.
