I've got football fever already. Why isn't this part of the board active? Is it like this during the regular season?

Seriously, the league needs to give the refs what they want. These scabs are just awful.

It gets a lot more active in regular season.

I watched about half the Packers/Chargers snoozefest and I'm already completely sick of Jon Gruden. Tough break for losing Des Bishop already. Led the team in tackles and tackles for loss last year and their LB depth is weak to begin with.

The key to watching anything on ESPN is utilizing the mute button, and this is only if you're absolutely forced to watch that network in the first place, which sadly does sometimes have to happen but fortunately only on Monday nights during football season.

Anyways, I am looking forward to the first Texans game tomorrow night!
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

The officiating today was horrendous

across 4 different games I saw, I witnessed horrible calls and missed calls. I am not talking judgement ones:

blowing a play dead because they forgot to pick up a flag
pointing to the wrong team at the end of the call
getting players' numbers wrong
using new signals for holding, encroachment and false starts

It was beyond sloppy.

I actually missed most of the games last night because I was at a training seminar for officials. Lots of talk about the replacements and most of it was positive. It's not easy and the bigger/faster the players the harder it is. I'll be reffing HS this year, happy to get back into it.

The unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Nick Perry after sacking Rivers was one of the weakest, most hilarious calls I've ever seen.

I hate preseason so much. Injuries happen so often during these games because you got dudes out there who are trying to prove that they're tough enough to play in this league, and are out there wrecking things.

Luck is really, really good...wow....too bad our o-line is going to get him killed this year

Luck threw a TD on his first pass of his NFL carreer, pretty ironic that Manning did the same thing.

Hope none of you suffered thru the Cowboys/Raiders debacle. Yuck!

Interior OL is a major problem for Dallas. How can you not even try to block Tommy Kelly? It's not like he's hard to see at 340 pounds  If I'm a fantasy geek (I"m not) I am real reluctant to overrate Demarco Murray running behind that line. Tyron Smith is awesome, the rest is, uh, not.

And then there's Terrelle Pryor and his apparent unfamiliarity with the playbook despite being on the team for a year. That was as bad a performance as I can recall. He made some things happen with his legs but when he stuck to the script he was terrible. Miles behind Joe Webb in the same sort of athletic project mold.

i got home last night around 11 and was able to get through the 1st quarter and a half. good god what a frustrating game from a cowboys standpoint

terrible run defense (though we had some of our better run defenders out) and shoddy (putting it mildly) interior o-line play. 3 god damn special teams penalties (resulting in 1st downs) and our secondary was pretty fortunate that the raiders receivers had a case of the drops

barry church played well which was nice, hopefully we can get something resembling competent safety play this year (which we havent had since darren woodson retired. this should strengthen his HoF candidacy, but it will go unlooked)

the raiders punter impressed me aside from the botched snap. but man what a leg, our's was pretty good but was overshadowed imo. dont see many black punters, last one i remember was reggie roby (who was one goofy looking f*ck)

and yea jeff, im reluctant to place high expectations on murray. he was coming down from his hot streak before he got hurt anyways, we get 0 push up front. part of why our red zone offense sucks so much, cant convert in short yardage situations putting all the pressure on romo

figured this would be the SPOT to say How GREAT Blaine Gabbert has Looked.

in 3 1/2 quarters hes gone 18/26 174 yards 3 touchdowns no interceptions. that is good enough for a passer rating of 126.12. hes looked comfortable in the Pocket and taking hits while Dealing with an Injury filled O-line.

Looks like Brandon Jacobs is going to be done for the season. Sucks for the Niners.
