What counts as a QB "hurry"?

Post#1 » by rockmanslim » Sat Sep 8, 2012 7:57 am

Is there consensus on what constitutes a hurry?

Is a hurry counted anytime a defender gets near enough to the QB to make him move?

What if the QB still makes a positive play, is it still considered a "hurry"?

A QB hurry is when the quarterback is forced to move from the pocket or throw before they want because of pressure. It's subjectively judged and some are more generous in awarding it than others. And absolutely it can result in a positive play.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

A QB hurry is critical with bad and below average QBs. Their interception % probably goes up tenfold in a QB hurry situation.
