Russell Wilson: For real or no?

Post#1 » by NJ_YANKEE_45 » Tue Dec 4, 2012 6:17 pm

Seattle is 30th in passing yards per game but also dead last in pass attempts per game. He is 7th in the NFL in passer rating. Hasn't had a turnover since 11/11 or thrown an INT since 10/28. 4th best passer rating for a rookie ever

A good running game is a quarterback's best friend. I think out of all the rookie QBs, Wilson is the one who will fall back down to earth. He's too short, eventually he'll get figured out.

Build the rookies confidence. Then when it comes time to let it rip, he'll play with it.

What does being too short have to do with figuring him out? Defenders know they always have a chance to tip his passes. The problem is he has a good pump fake and will easily run by them if they jump at it.

As long as he has a solid running game, I doubt he'll fall off much.

+1, height has nothing to do with it, look at Drew Brees

He's for real. I don't think he has RG3 or Luck's upside as they both project to be elite, but he'll be a notch below and very good(like on that Matt Schaub tier of QBs). I liked him coming out of the draft, but his height scared me.

I think this is pretty much right. I don't see him ever being an elite QB, but he won't have to be if Seattle builds their team around the run and a stong D.

My thoughts exactly. Wilson is smart enough to know that too, as opposed to Joe Flacco or Matt Stafford, who will try to do it themselves too much.

Just being good enough to start is a trait that you want from quarterbacks nowadays. Ask the teams in the league that have been perennially searching for one.

I believe he is for real, the work ethic he has shown from college and now his first year in the league is what has up to this point and will continue to seperate him from quarterbacks who are as talented but do not work as hard because they think everything is handed to them.
