Ray Lewis told the team today "this will be my last ride."

Will miss him dearly. One of my favorite players ever, I pretty much grew up watching this guy. His pre-game speeches were the best and he was the heart and soul of the Ravens being the powerhouse defense they've gotten the reputation of.

The greatest linebacker of this era.

Even after the murder trial and all the stigma that came with it, he became a better person and turned into the sport's elder statesman. I don't think there's ever been an athlete that provides as an inspiration to so many others.

I can't say I'm surprised by this move, but it'll still be hard to see him walk off the field for the last time, whenever that may be in the next month or so.

Not a big fan of the Ravens at all, but Ray Lewis is one of my favorite players to watch. He will be greatly missed.

The Ravens have never existed without Ray Lewis.

I think this also raises the question of whether Ed Reed will return for another season. He's been plagued with injuries the last couple seasons, and I've always seen those two as a package deal.

I think Ed Reed will come back for one or two more seasons. With a healthy T-Sizzle and the growth of some of the younger guys, I think he would want to try and make one more serious run at a Super Bowl ring.

You gotta remember that he was still at Miami when the Ravens won their championship.

Ray Lewis will be missed.

I've always respected him as a player. I hope he remains part of football in some fashion.

Ed when healthy is arguably the best safety in the NFL, I see him playing about two more seasons.

Hes in my top 3 for sure, as the greatest LBs to ever play the game.

When I think of football, I think of Ray Lewis. Gonna be tough to see him in a suit on some pre-game show. I hope he gets into coaching.

You're right, but it really could come down to how well the Ravens perform in the postseason. If they fall short again I'm sure he's going to strongly contemplate stepping down.
