Russell Wilson, the rookie quarterback sensation for the Seattle Seahawks, has reported asked for a new contract from management after his performance proved to be better than expected. The interesting thing, though, is that he is not legally allowed to do so under the new collective bargaining agreement.

Do you guys think this is a sign of things to come?

Do you have a link? Obviously he is getting massively underpaid but I don't expect the Seahawks are going to entertain thoughts of giving him a raise quite yet. Packers gave Aaron Rodgers after the Favre incident and before he started a game, making he one of the best-value players in the league. If the Seahawks can talk Wilson into something like a 5 year deal below $8 mil it could really benefit them down the road.

Ian Rapoport said that Wilson's agent called him irate saying that he knows a contract can't be negotiated at this point.

The Seahawks are owned by Paul Allen. That guy wipes his ass with $100 bills.

Russ will get his.

As rich as Allen is, he still needs to abide by the rules of the league. Wilson isn't qualified for a new contract right now.

There's nothing quite like a franchise finally being able to believe in their chances because they finally have a quarterback. Wilson provides that to the Seahawks. He'll definitely get paid.
