Salary Cap Casualties Predictions

Post#1 » by srrono » Mon Jan 28, 2013 6:07 am

Every year Vet players are victims of the salary cap. Who do you think will be cut this off season?

Pittsburgh is in salary cap hell right now, I believe OLB James Harrison at 2013: $6.57 million, 2014: $7.575 million will be one of many vets cut.

Maybe not a cap casualty per se (since he's already a free agent) but the Niners might have trouble bringing Dashon Goldson back if someone makes him a big offer.

Carlos Rogers might get cut, he's due $5.5M and wasn't as good as expected this year.

If the Niners draft a corner or safety in the 1st, the writing might be on the wall for these guys.

EDIT: After looking up the Niners' cap situation, it's less dire than I originally thought. Would be surprised if these guys aren't on the roster unless our FO wants to try and make a deal for Revis or something.

Santana Moss and Deangelo Hall have big cap numbers, but both want to return and have said they'd take paycuts to stay. We'll see though...
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I have a feeling that the San Francisco 49ers are going to replace Jonathan Goodwin with a new center next season.

Michael Turner is probably in line to get cut, he didn't do anything this season and it's clear that Jaquizz Rodgers is a much better option at this point in his career. Falcons will need to get another RB of course because Rodgers will break down over the course of the season if he has to carry the full load (most RBs would let alone a 5'6 one) So I expect the Falcons to take a RB in the draft, maybe Eddie Lacy or we might take a chance on Lattimore, or in Free Agency.

Wasn't aware that Turner was on the chopping block, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was swooped up pretty quickly in free agency.
