One of the best bargains this offseason imo. Dude will make an immediate impact and is pretty much a lock for double digit sacks.

Umenyora said in a recent NFL Network appearance that his goal for 2013 is to be the Defensive Player of the Year, and he was looking for a team where he can have a bigger role.

Which means he will have to put up JJ Watt numbers. its a tall order but i'm just glad to see the passion and drive in the vet. can he get 15, or even 10 sacks? who knows but it already looks like he has taken the leadership role in Atlanta, like what Gonzalez did with the Falcons' offense.

Falcons should still pick up another hungry vet like Richard Seymour, Dwight Freeney, Brian Urlacher, or James Harrison. in addition, get a guy like Carradine, Ezekiel, Damontre Moore, or Sam Montgomery in the first round

Umenyora didn't seem all too happy with the Giants. Maybe he'll have a chip on his shoulders? If so, Atlanta benefits greatly from that. Motivation does things to a man.

You should never sign older players the Giants let go. They're a very crafty organization, Jerry Reese is as good a GM as you'll find, and if they're not good enough to stay it generally means something is wrong with them.

It looks like a good deal on paper for the Falcons but Osi will be closer to complete non factor status then DPOTY.

There's a lot of other factors as to why the Giants let players go. It's not always about level of ability.

I won't deny that Giants organization is "crafty" but so are the Falcons. The Falcons have been wanting Osi for two years, and apparently it has been mutual, so I believe he'll continue to have success.

I really think this is just a matter of the relationship between a player and a team has soured.

This is a loss for the Falcons. The team that made the big deal of the day was seattle. They signed 2 young guns in cliff averill and got a steal in Michael bennett.
Osi on the other hand, is up there in years, and he looks good because lets face the facts, they've got Justin tuck, Jason pierre paul and even kiwanuka at times comin off the edge. That makes life easy for Osi. In Atlanta, he wont have that type speed to assist and make his game stand out. But he'll have to do the whole thing by himself.

Clowney would be a dream (an unattainable dream) but there are plenty of nice DEs in the draft this year. I'd personally love Margus Hunt

^ Jarvis Jones and Damontre Moore who are premium pass rushers, were once thought of as top five talents, and are now slipping in the draft. Falcons fans would be extatic if one of those two drop to Dimitroff in the late first round.

and even if Jarvis and Damontre are off the board by then, which i don't think they will be, then Montgomery, Carradine, or Okafor will be their waiting, ripe for the picking :D

I watched Jones in college and he is a beast!! If he falls to the 20s then Dimitroff should trade up IMO

^ swap a 1st and a 3rd for Jarvis, or a 1st and next year's 2nd.

Jones would solve two issues at once for the Falcons in that he's an OLB and an edge rusher.

Plus, the whole UGA angle can't hurt.

Falcons Reportedly Looking To Move Up In Draft

With holes at cornerback and defensive end, the Atlanta Falcons are believed to be looking to trade up from the No. 30 pick in next week's NFL Draft.

Peter King of Sports Illustrated and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution made similar reports on Wednesday.

Trade a 1st and 4th to move up the draft and get Jarvis, and then grab Tyrann Mathieu in the 2nd...... call it a day and go ahead and give Dimitroff another draft day grade of +A :D
