$765 million. $650 directly to the players, or $150K a piece. Per the terms of the agreement, the NFL does not admit any liability or fault.

Gad, the NFL is bulletproof. They avoid months of testimony which would have killed their image, and it cost far less than the $2.5B figure I've seen tossed around.

The NFL makes around 10 billion a year so this is nothing for them. This settlement is a massive win for NFL on basically every front.

I agree the NFL won. I did hear some strong, educated reasons why this went down from people like Andrew Brandt and Roger Cossack. I'll paraphrase:

The burden of proof that the sole cause of the concussion and related issues came strictly and exclusively from playing in the NFL was going to be extremely difficult for the players. They would basically have to depose each and every player and they would have to provide legit evidence that they never suffered any head trauma outside of football. That includes crap like falling off a bike as a kid or being in a car accident.

The perception of so many players coming and going from the class action suit sent a bad message that it was nothing more than a blatant cash grab. It looked too much like it was just for the money and not about the underlying principle.

Hell Clinton Portis got in on the lawsuit a few weeks ago.
