Transcripts of voice mail messages and text messages left for the Miami Dolphins' Jonathan Martin by teammate Richie Incognito indicate a pattern of racial epithets and profane language.

Multiple sources confirmed to ESPN that the following is a transcript of a voice message Incognito left for Martin in April 2013, a year after Martin was drafted:

"Hey, wassup, you half n----- piece of s---. I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. [I want to] s--- in your f------ mouth. [I'm going to] slap your f------ mouth. [I'm going to] slap your real mother across the face [laughter]. F--- you, you're still a rookie. I'll kill you."

this guy should be banned for a lot of games
Martin should sue MIA for workplace harrasment

I don't know all the details yet about how much the actual organization knew about the harassment, but Incognito should be ashamed of himself and released. I also can't imagine many teams being interested in signing him when he hits the market after the season ends.

There is obviously something mentally wrong with the guy. He's been in trouble numerous times in his pro career and in college, even being named "dirtiest player in the league" a few years back. This could be something as simple as controlling anger issues, to having to manage a personality disorder like Brandon Marshall.

The most terrible thing about all of this is that he's apparently been doing this to other employees of the franchise, not just Martin, but Martin has gotten the worst of it.

I'd be very surprised if he is the only one in the league that does this, having a rap sheet isnt helping him though

Well, rookie hazing is a pretty regular thing in just about every sport, but I don't think it goes to the extent that Incognito did to Martin (especially since Martin isn't a rookie anymore). Everyone knows about the pranks and whatnot, but I feel like slurs and threats would come to more public attention if it happened on a more consistent, league-wide basis.

incognito is the voted team captain. and from what i read other miami players are defending him now, too?

this story is either very weird or very sad, or both.

there is a culture of hazing, so of course players will frown upon the guy who goes outside the team to tell people what happens in house

but I do believe this might spur a change...I mean doesnt matter how bigor rich one is, people have emotions and feelings and can be subject to bullying/harrasment

That voice message sounds like something a 14-year old would say. Having someone so immature be one of the leaders speaks volumes about that team.

Didn't this guy just do a interview for ESPN or something and the story was all about how he's changed and doing everything right?

If they find this to be true, this guy will never touch the field in the NFL again. No team will sign him.

I'd love to hear some Incognito stories that Risdon has heard. He must have some doozies.

There's hazing, and then there's a hostile work environment, and this is an extremely hostile work environment.

Incognito is a piece of garbage, and the Dolphins staff is awful if they turned a blind eye or even encouraged it as reports are now suggesting...

Unfortunately (?) I've never met Incognito. I have met Martin, interviewed him predraft.

I know when Richie was with the Rams his teammates HATED him. His fellow OL in particular because nothing was ever his fault and he's just a nonstop tirade of profanity and negativity. I wish I had some good stories but I don't.

My quick take on this thing:
I wonder why the Dolphins drafted Martin in the first place. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, knew he was "soft" coming out of Stanford. He's not at all like a football player. He's pensive, worldly, quiet, and hyper-intelligent. He's not an aggressive person at all, and it shows on the field.

I know teams heard about how opponents got at him by hitting him hard and they knew he would back down. They had to have because I heard it from various places and I was in Texas at the time. Why take draft a guy knowing you want to change him into something he's obviously not going to ever embrace? That's just stupid IMO. You don't draft Dez Bryant to be a subservient second banana, you don't draft Reggie Bush to be a power runner, why draft a passive tackle if you want a guy like, well, Richie Incognito?

And that leads to some blame on Martin himself. He's a very bright guy. He's got to know that the NFL is different from Stanford, where being smart and non-aggressive is held to the highest standard. If he's not fully committed to embracing the physical and mental demands of the NFL, why keep playing? Look at John Moffitt, who is a similar kind of person. He up and quit this week because he just didn't love football. Martin should have spared himself all this and been honest with both himself and with NFL teams heading into the draft.

i think he handled things wrong in the sequence of his actions, i think most people would go up the ranks in an attempt to fix things (talk to the owner if coaches encourage it) before quitting if they have a problem with their coworkers or the work environment, then leave if nothing is being done. abruptly quitting then filing a complaint after things got blown up makes it seem like he is a quitter that can't deal with adversity.

No surprise that in the alpha-male, jock mentality environment of the NFL Incognito is the one getting the most support from his teammates, other players, and former players.

It's almost as if Martin would have gotten more support if he fought Incognito, got his ass kicked, and then kicked off the team.

I think this is only a big deal because Martin bailed on the team. A certain level of mental toughness is required in the NFL and it appears Martin lacks that. I'm getting some Royce White vibes from some of the stuff I've read.

I don't wanna defend Incognito, though, because he seems like a total POS.

Just another angle to it, here is one of the posts I saw :

"Emotional Distress"........ $$$$ Harvard educated lawyer parents know how to get cash out of the NFL. Find a racially insensitive phone message, and save it for a rainy day... like when you feel like going AWOL. Pretty sad.

This pretty much sums it up!

and Tom Jackson had no clue or any facts and said this : "I think Richie Incognito is a racist. I think he's bigoted. I think he's a bully"

Racist much yourself, Mr. Jackson ?

^Oh silly Tom Jackson, how could you ever misconstrue someone saying "You half-N***** piece of ****" as racist?

Did you guys get a chance to hear Rick Venturi's interview about Incognito? Wow, lol.

I don't know about a Royce White vibe. Martin sounds sort of passive and meek and maybe easily bullied, while White seemed to expect people to cater to him.
