Is Jadeveon Clowney a bust?

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Tue Sep 9, 2014 4:54 am

Jadeveon Clowney Out 4-6 Weeks With Knee Surgery........

It has only been one week, but it looks like Clowney's story is slowly turning into that same old story of a high prospect who is a monster on the field but struggles with injuries.

No...... but early signs don't look good. Greg Oden does come to mind.

Too early to say he's a bust. I will say though that he was a complete non factor on Sunday, but in fairness he was going up against Trent Williams who is one of if not the best LTs in the league.

i wouldn't say complete non factor. he was frequently deep in washington's backfield from what i saw. imo it was only a matter of time until he would've started converting those into plays. unfortunately, that's time he didn't get due to the injury.

similar to the pats game. even though miami fell behind in the first half, their D-line was still getting good push at the LOS, getting penetration, even though they weren't quite finishing with sacks. it eventually caught up to brady and co. in the second half.

JJ Watt, Brooks Reed, and DJ Swearinger had more of an impact on that game than Clowney even when Clowney was in the game.

Scary. Both Watt and Clowney blew up 2 defenders. If Jadaveon can reach his potential (basically an even faster Robert Quinn) and they both stay on the same side 7 man unbalanced lineups might come back in style in the AFC South. I just hope he gets healthy because he's easily the most talented defensive end I've seen when healthy.

This has to be the record for fastest "bust" label.

Jadeveon is a great talent, but i'm glad that my team didn't draft him.

Anthony Barr looks like a beast. between Clowney, Mack, and Barr, i think Barr is going to come out of this as the best of the three.

Sad to say, but yes, looks like Clowney is a bust, like a "Greg Oden" bust

Clowney is a great talent, no doubt. but it is not his talent that has been in question, but his motivation, since his college days that has been questioned. he is in terms of the raw talent, the best player of this year's draft, but when motivation and other intangibles accounted, he still has a lot to prove. getting hurt however, is not his fault.

I sure hope this young man seizes his maximum potential and become the #1 pick worthy by simply being unrelenting and free of major injury.
