Commissioner Goodell

Post#1 » by truth18 » Wed Sep 17, 2014 2:00 pm

The NFL is under intense scrutiny from sports media, the general media, and now, some of their largest sponsors (Anheuser Busch, Nike). There are rumblings this morning about Condelleza Rice potentially taking over the job (not the first time she said she was interested, there is a history with her and the NFL and she's always said comish is her "dream job".

So, simple question, do you think Goodell should resign/step down?

He should be replaced, but not by Condelleza Rice. I really don't want another politician in there.

I tend to agree with this, but Goodell should blame himself for much of this backlash after his hard justice approach with disciplining players. Look at the Rothlisberger case (and I think the guy is a scumbag) where he was charged with nothing but disciplined by the league. Goodell brough a lot of this on himself. Getting witch hunt vibes regardless though.

Maybe so, but as far as being worth a 44 million dollar a year salary, I don't think anybody in the world think he's close to being worth that

The one's calling for his head aren't the ones that should be deciding that.

Why would anyone besides the owners care how much Goodell is making?

I said yes, but not simply because of this past week alone.

I think seeing how well the NBA's transition from Stern to Silver went has me a little too optimistic. There's a 99% chance that the next commissioner would be about the same, just a different face.

Reporters are destroying Goodell right now. He is a horrible politician you can see right through him. Unemotional, stumbling over his words. Makes me wonder who prepared him for this presser.

This guy needs to go, even if the next commish is similar.

TMZ: "we got the tape after one phone call to the casino".

Smh

Goodell was seventeen minutes late to the podium.

Smh

Poorly executed politican-speak.

"I have not considered resigning"

Smh

He's done whether you like him or not IMO. The media is bigger than the NFL and they will crucify him after today.

Roger Goodell's words to Saints regarding bounty gate was something like "ignorance is not an excuse"
same standard should apply to him...he messed up big time and he needs to pay for it.

one of the worst commissioners ever

I think people are starting to realize, that this guy stands at the opposite ends of players. Where in the past there was a thought of a unified front with players and rozelle Tagliabue etc... Right now, Goodell has totally made that chasm, that divide. And totally transformed the league into an antagonistic approach between players and ownership. Almost WWF/WWE like. The players do not want one thing from the league, unless it goes litigation and battle and negotiation. This separation and divide is all Goodell. Billions of dollars are being made for ownership. While you are a has been by 29-30 years of age. Paying cheaper for younger. The players are garbage tools, thrown away at the earliest opportunity. The plantation mentality is alive and well under goodell, and he has been successful in its implementation, keeping the NI**ERS in line.

I've been a Goodell apologist for a long time.

Outside the lines has a report out now.

Scathing. Goodell and the Baltimore owner should face serious discipline.

The witch hunt comment is laughable.

You can't have Mr Integrity be that dishonest. I had forgotten Goodell had the Pats cheating tapes destroyed.

Minimally, Goodell can no longer be involved in the punishment process.

Time for a new commissioner, no doubt. Would love to take Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, he gets things done.

He's pretty much brought it on himself with all his self-righteous bluster about "protecting the shield". To be so aggressive in enforcing discipline and then drop the ball so catastrophically, whether it be through ineptitude or calculation or some combination of both, pretty much destroys any credibility and respect he had.

he's always been a piece of sh*t commissioner and i would love for his ass to be canned. a complete 2 face jackoff who stands behind corporate marketing horsesh*t like "protect the shield" and anyone who actually identifies with that bullsh*t should have a shield jammed up their ass.

im glad his ass is finally showing for the person he really is. a complete incompetent hypocritical dictator who just judges by the seat of his pants (and lately, the publics pants)

but hey, he makes dollars over fists for the owners so i doubt it'll change, despite this being a sport that sells itself and will make money for the foreseeable future if only because it's football.

cant wait to see more awful thursday primetime games and him pushing an 18 game schedule and an additional wild card game on us in the future, all while ignoring injury history for the players and a Ped/hgh problem that journalists dont give 2 sh*ts about, or they'll lose insight into "the shield"
