Who should win MVP?

Everyone talks about Rodgers, but Romo has a much better completion percentage, more yards per attempt and a higher qb rating. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/playe ... backRating" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Their teams are both 11-4. What real reason should Rodgers have of beating him? I guess you could argue that Romo has been able to lean on a much better running game at times.

Personally I'd probably give it to JJ Watt, because I don't think Houston would be sniffing the playoffs without him, but I don't know if the voters would give it to him.

Who would you vote for MVP? Brady and Manning have not been as good as Romo and Rodgers, so I don't think you could really rationally vote for either of them. Denver has actually relied much more on their D and running game this year. Russell Wilson has been great with his legs, but it's obviously Seattle's D that makes that team elite.

I just asked this question in the game thread.

I'd still take Rodgers, because I don't think his surrounding offensive talent is anywhere close to what guys like Romo and Manning have.

But yeah, Romo's been better than Brady and Manning this year. Roethlisberger deserves some love too, but Romo has still been better. JJ Watt deserves serious props too.

If I had to just rank the top 5 QBs this year:

1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Tony Romo
3. Ben Roethlisberger
4. Peyton Manning
5. Tom Brady

I think you could argue 3-5, but Romo statistically has clearly separated himself from everyone but Rodgers.

I'd rather give it to Romo's offensive line, who consistently give him 5+ seconds in the pocket when he wants it. The MVP is Rodgers.

I guess you can say Rodgers doesn't have nearly the surrounding talent. I think if you asked most people before the season they would have said Nelson, Cobb and Lacy were close to as good as Bryant and Murray. Maybe not quite. The main difference might be the line though.

I think Rodgers is a better qb though.

It's funny, growing up in Phx with all the bandwagon Cowboys fans there (for whatever reason) I always despised the Cowboys. So now I live in Austin (for about the past five years) and the Cowboys games are on every week so I see enough of them to have a good understanding of how good they are.

I started to feel bad for Tony over the years because he would ALWAYS take the blame when the team didn't win, but the way I saw it was, their running game, defense, and the rest of the team were always SO bad that the only reason they were even IN games was BECAUSE of Romo. Sure, he choked in some of them, but if they had an avg qb, they would have often gotten crushed. Like when they played Denver last year and lost 51-48, he blew it at the end, but most qbs never would have been close to having Dallas in a position to win in the first place.

It's nice for him that he finally has some talent around him and is getting some credit for his talent.

No. On his own team Murray and maybe even Bryant are more valuable.

actually dallas o-line is just average in pass protection, top notch in run blocking though.

i'd give it to rodgers but romo has a good case.

Rodgers for me.
Wouldn't mind if romo got it.

There is a very good case for Murray as MVP as well.

Eli's also putting up good numbers. Both the Cowboys and Giants go up against mostly bad defenses. The Giants go up against Dallas twice and Detroit, while the Cowboys go up against the Giants twice and Chicago. As far as defenses go, the Cowboys have it even easier than the Giants do. Taking that into account, Romo's not in the conversation.

you pretty much nailed the criticism of romo to a T. he was pretty much the reason the last 3 years theyve had a chance to make the playoffs in those win and in games. i just wish he had this line 2-5 years ago before his back was completely f*cked

having said that, id pick Watt for my mvp. he's the best player in the league regardless of position and head and shoulders above the next best defensive player. damn shame he wont win it though

MVP isn't about best stats, it's about being the most VALUABLE player in the league. Although stats are extremely useful, they aren't always a good indicator of true value on field, court or ice. Tony Romo isn't even the most valuable player on his team - that would be DeMarco Murray. I would give it to Rodgers or Murray before I give it to Romo.

no way murray is more valuable than romo. any average running back would've run for 1500 yards behind that run blocking.

Romo's December alone should get him the MVP. Rodgers played horrible vs Buffalo and it cost them HFA to Seattle. While we are talking about Seattle, one of the above went to Seattle and won while the other would not even throw at Sherman. Surrounding talent- Lacy, Cobb, Nelson to Murray, Dez, Witten. Thats a wash if not advantage to GB. tHE LINE- Dallas . The defense- Packers. Im a Dallas fan and think Rodgers is the best QB in the league, but not the MVP this year. Ive seen GB w/o Rodgers. Its a whole lot better than Dallas w/o Romo.

Murray is not better than he has been his whole career. It's the O-Line giving Murray a great season. The Packers are not that good of a Team. Rodgers makes them a contender. Why Rodgers deserves MVP is because he has not thrown really one pick this season. He has five picks and all them where in and out of his WRs hands. Rodgers never turns it over.

I would take Nelson and Lacy over Dez and Murray. Dez is more talents but Nelson is a idea player. Peyton Manning of WRs.

My vote though would go to JJ Watt.

I think the Cowboys and Packers teams are even if you remove the QBs.

With all due credit to the defense, Lynch is a pretty vital part of their overall team success as well.

Dallas losing by 23 to a Mark Sanchez led Eagles team at home or to an awful Redskins team at home cost them home field advantage too. Both of those losses are far worse than losing to the Bills on the road.
